Hi .. special event in 3 weeks! My legs are so pale. What do you recommend?

Why not treat yourself to a spray tan? I’ve used all sorts of lotions and potions over the years and they’ve all turned out horribly and they all stink. The gradual lotions were the worst for me. Blotchy, stinky and orange. I got a spray tan from someone reputable and it turned out beautifully. Was only £25 as well!

It's very risky if you're very pale though. As a pp says, if you don't tan naturally then fake tans can look very very odd.

You know fake tan can be applied all over?!

So you can look as if you're wearing fake tan all over?

St tropez 1 hour tan. Idiot proof and anyone can put it on! Leaves a lovely natural tan and lasts quite a while. Can be easily reapplied 4/5 days later. Dries very quickly after application and clothes can be worn over it until you shower later

Fake tan has moved on from the 70’s and there’s lots of makes that look very natural nowadays 😂 Utan for example is a spray on natural looking one that goes on over makeup or whatever and develops through the day and looks like you’ve been out in the sun for a few days with a decent spf on to stop burning

I prefer the "before" look. I don't see anything wrong with the "before" look. I don't like the "after" look at all. It's a bit roast chicken looking.

I don't like tanned skin. It's not a look I want. Heavily tanned skin makes me think wrinkles and skin cancer.

The "before" pic there is not representative of milk bottle legs at all. In fact the before pic looks tanned already so it's no wonder the after looks a bit like mahogany furniture!

I'd take "milk bottle" over roast chicken. I'm not that keen on the "before" either

Karen Gillan has milk bottle legs and is generally considered very beautiful.

The gradual tans not too good for me, especially in creases. I get on well with the Sally Hansen leg make up though.

tealandteal · 10/06/2026 11:37

I also have a special event in 3 weeks. I have used a gradual tanner before but I’m thinking of just going with my legs as they are. I’m also not going to buy a new foundation so not like I can go very dark anyway!

Sparkletastic · 10/06/2026 11:46

Another vote for Bondi Sands gradual tan applied with a mitt. Great way to distract from any broken veins / uneven texture.

The clue is in the title of the post. The OP wants to sort out her pale legs. I am well aware that self tan can be applied all over but if you apply it only to your legs it can look a little strange. Especially in summer when you are not likely to only have your legs out …

Also if your skin isn’t the kind of skin that tans well in the sun then you can look very… well… fake tanned ALL OVER. If that’s your thing then that’s great but I’ve seen some skin that is very obviously trying not to be pale, and it’s very hard to fake that tanned look if this is not your natural skin tone, especially at home.

I think this is perfectly reasonable to say if you’re only going to self tan your legs then you’re better off not doing it.
