3 weeks to sort out pale legs

Hi .. special event in 3 weeks! My legs are so pale. What do you recommend?

I find that self tan really only looks ok on those who are fortunate enough to tan a decent colour in the sun. Self or fake tan tends to just be a weird shade on naturally pale skin. Then it’s also a bit strange to only have your legs a different colour to your arms and shoulders etc.

Not many women are comfortable with glaringly white legs on show. I know I’m not.

Then get some confidence. I glow like I’m neon on the beach. So what? From the darkest of shades to the lightest skin colour is nothing to be ashamed of. This dislike of pale skin is so of a particular era (1960-2010) and just shouldn’t be a thing anymore.

Maybe it shouldn’t be a thing. But it most definitely is.

I am not only super pale but also blotchy so I like a very mild fake tan just to even things out. I really like the bondi sands tinted gradual self tan. Apply with latex gloves!

Is it a thing? Or your personal hang up? Do you look really at pale as nature intended women and think "eugh-pale skin"?

I agree with Glitterella- it looks weird to have different parts of your body in different colours.

Blimey. If you want to take the glare off your legs that’s fine. It’s not a moral failing. As someone said upthread the This Works perfect legs cream is really good. Blurs skin and adds a light tint till you wash it off.

My tip is to just get some of that body moisturiser which includes a hint of colour for your body. Dove, gariner etc do them….each year I just slowly build up towards summer with my legs…it also feels less fake than fake tan …do more than just your legs so you are even….

Me too. Use this. It's really easy to use. I just get which ever one is on offer and apply it all over (as you would a moisturiser) about every 3 days.

Get the lighter one as you are pale.

I apply with a mitt because I find it stains my hands.
You will see a gradual tan building in time for the big day.

You'll be fine. X

Not among the young. Young people don’t care anymore about skin tone. It’s an old fashioned sentiment and needs to be done away with.

This. It’s subtle and not much effort!

I was going to recommend this too. I don’t seem to fake tan well but layers of gradual tan seems to work to give me a healthy glow.

If you are passing an Aldi check and see if they have tanning drops in. Just mix a couple with your usual moisturiser. I think it’s £4 a bottle but they last ages.

I spent the day with my two god daughters at the weekend (21 and 24) they both got their regular spray tans.

I love a slight tan, but as a natural ginger it just doesn’t happen! I really like Bondi Sands gradual tan, applied with a mit… it also smells quite pleasant!

Dliplop · Yesterday 21:22

I used to do gradual fake tan because it let me just get a hint of colour and nice and even. Now I have glow drops - mine are the bronzing ones and I mixed some with moisturizer before an event.

my face, decolletage, arms, hands, feet rtc are all different colours and it’s nice to blur out big contrasts. Wanting makeup on your body is no different from wanting it on your face.

yellowhatonacapybara · Yesterday 21:27

Tanning drops are brilliant! A couple of drops added to normal body moisturiser for 2-3 days (wash your hands afterwards) and it is enough to take that bright white glow away, but doesn’t look streaky or overdone.

TheyGrewUp · Yesterday 21:31

7dr tights do the trick imo.

MrsFaustus · Yesterday 22:00

Agree Dove light shade, mix it with body lotion. Builds up very gradually and you can stop when you’ve just taken the whiteness off!

Pale and pearly is one thing but pale, blotchy and veiny as I am is hard to feel confident and ok about. Body Blur, the palest shade works wonders for me. It’s easy to apply, doesn’t clump and my last purchase came with a super brush to blend in heels, knees etc. Absolute game changer for me in summer.

Generalbit · Yesterday 22:12

Gatineau gradual tan is fabulous. It’s somehow never streaky on my legs. The Nivea Q10 is also decent but Gatineau is best I have ever used

I agree with this recommendation.

I am ghostly white. Ive never been able to apply fake tan. This with a mit I have found really easy. Exfoliate and dehair in the morning, apply evening, wake up shower and repeat if necessary. I would say you dont need a lot, so go less than ypu think at first it spreads really well. More expensive but it a large amount and worth it imo. I use it everywhere.

If you arent used to or good at applying i would do a test run the week before 😁

AlwaysSometimesNever · Yesterday 22:14

And no biscuity smell with the Vita Liberata. I find with any, even gradual self tan moisturiser or drops, the manky smell is still there.

cupfinalchaos · Yesterday 22:15

I use a moisturiser with tanning agent in the summer but for a special event I have a spray tan the morning before.

Missj25 · Yesterday 22:35

EnoughRain · Yesterday 19:01

Possibly, but who wants to wear tights in the summer? (And sheer tights surely are the preserve of the er, more mature woman than I’m guessing the OP might be)

Agreed

Fushia123 · Yesterday 22:48

I use Dove gradual tan and mix it with equal amounts of Nivea body lotion. I use a mitt in the shower or bath to exfoliate and then rub equal amounts of both creams in my hands before putting on my arms and legs. It’s really effective, not too obvious and the skin really benefits from a daily dose of moisturiser.
I can be quite lazy with skin care regimes but I’m really happy to wear shorts and t shirts with this method.
