Medicube is all over my TikTok feed at the moment. Has anyone tried it? I don’t want glass skin like some people seem to promote but I do want a bit of a glow. I am 55 and my skin, despite using products always looks a bit flat and dull.

Speaking of redness, the medik8 vitamin c, and allergies, sone of you might remember I got a rash right around the time we all bought the Fairy GWP and blamed it on the medik8. At the time I was using that, medik8 retinal, and medik8 niacinamide peptides. I cut them all out for several months and I just started using the vitamin c again. Completely fine this time. A few other products have made my cheeks red in the meantime, including the BoJ SPF and various moisturisers and serums. The common ingredient: niacinamide. Someone on here suggested it at the time and I know a few people have talked about being sensitive to it (and what a pain it is, given it's in so many things!).

I have loads of products in my stash containing vitamin c and retinol that I've avoided all this time so I'm really hopeful that I'm going to be able to use them up. Going very slowly this time though and only adding one new active at a time. Once you damage your barrier it takes sooo long to heal!

Funny you should mention this. I've excluded all Niacinamide, no multi vits, no strivectin neck cream which had a nicotinoate (might be spelt wrong). My itching has done, I'm sure now the strivectin caused an upsurge in itching but it's actually all gone. It's only been a few weeks but it was like someone turned a switch off. Bit hard to tell if it has any impact on rosacea as I've managed to upset my barrier (Mizon jesu mask supposedly calming). I do have a condition (too many platelets) which itching can be a side effect so ymmv but I would absolutely give it a try. I'm finding a lot of my recent stuff doesn't have it in so maybe the trend of having it in everything is changing. The MZ bio placenta serum, Zelens B12, Mz calming cream, idik8 advanced peptides etc etc are all free.

@craftycowbag There a lot of stuff on the Reddit Asian beauty threads about Medicube and false advertising claims (apparently Anua too). Not sure if there’s anything behind it or it’s something you’d be bothered by but might be worth looking into.

IlovePond · 06/06/2026 17:11

@CorneliaStreet and @craftycowbag Medicube is in trouble in Korea atm for false advertising. (I watched a couple of YouTube videos about it recently.)

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the products themselves, but Medicube were muddying the waters between cosmetic and medical benefits for some products in their advertising.

namechange0998776554799000 · 06/06/2026 17:13

I bought the night wrapping mask @craftycowbag. I couldn't stop myself from peeling it off after about half an hour though 😆 Like a few of those masks (the biodance one that you leave on for 4 hours and the Byoma peel off one) they do leave my skin looking like glass - but it only lasts a couple of hours and I've never actually timed them before going out, so a bit pointless & gimmicky in the end. I haven't tried any other medicube products though.

user593 · 06/06/2026 17:17

I also have the Medicube Night Wrapping Mask and I wasn’t impressed. I much prefer the Byoma one.

Any thoughts on the ultimate box by the Bridal beauty company?

I intended buying until I say the contents and the price tag is high. Even with well being freebie. I would have likely ended up with the red lipstick and dont wear red.
The edits can be hit and miss but overall ive been happy eith them. You do end up with a lot of repeats if you purchase regularly x

user593 · 06/06/2026 21:48

I’ve finally paletted all my Surratt blush and eye shadows and hope to use them more now they’re easier to access. It’s a shame this brand is disappearing from the UK. They’re lovely quality. They remind me of Shu Uemura which I still miss browsing in Harvey Nichols, and Inoui ID which was never available here but I used to order it from Japan (it was a Shiseido brand discontinued in 2007) 💔

LoveLabradors · 06/06/2026 22:01

@craftycowbag I've nearly finished medicube and won’t be rebuying. Its just ok. Most of it peels off as soon as you get in to bed even with me giving it an hour drying time.

wohmum · 06/06/2026 23:16

the Jarrold’s pick me up bag works with the 10% off so come out at £36 not £40

Fillybuster · 07/06/2026 00:07

@wohmum was there an email? I haven’t seen anything about a discount code. Placed a big order last night..!

Caggie09 · 07/06/2026 01:31

Just done a Boots order for a few bits. Got an offer on for 20% when you spend £35 on loads of brands, then used code MEAGANSC15 for an extra 15% on top.

Thank you for this - got the cost of some tinted SPF low enough that I could get it free with points 😁

user593 · 07/06/2026 08:02

Thank you @Caggie09!

Very tempted by Prada as it’s stacking with the GWP and could get the Champagne and Pink highlighters plus mini lip gloss and mirror for £68 + 600 bonus Boots points (normally £50 each) so I’ve just opened my Becca x Smashbox highlighter which I bought a few weeks ago but hadn’t yet used (and it’s lovely!) to try and put myself off 😂

Thank you :) I've used the code to finally try Armani Luminous Silk foundation and also repurchase my Elemis Apricot toner that ran out this week

Thanks for sharing, I picked up a Chanel Les Beiges touch and added some eye patches as had 400 points for a £50
spend.

I love my surratt blush from Liberty 2024 ac. Something I would have never bought.

Fillybuster · 07/06/2026 09:51

Thanks @wohmum - I’ve now spotted two different discount codes from Jarrolds in my spam folder (Basket10 as well as Save26) but too late 😭

Phew! Thank you everyone for your replies (especially loving @Motherwols scientific breakdown!!) and for the honesty re multiple products on the go @Beautyfox & @Doglover73 - that’s incredibly helpful and makes me feel a bit more normal 😂

I’ve got a huge under sink drawer (think nearly 1 metre long) full of my “currently in use” products, along with a load on my dressing table. I know part of the problem is having more than one open at the same time, so it’s helpful to realise that the other element is that it really does take a while to get through most products. Certainly longer than my attention span / desire for a dopamine hit will allow!

I’m working on giving myself permission to throw out products I don’t like, but even that only goes so far. I really want to try the Decree morning serum over the Medik8 vit C but am waiting until I finish my current BoJ niacimide (2 more in stash), which I really like, so no reason to change, and it’s taking forever….sigh….

Thankfully I’m fine with mucin (bought by accident as it’s an ingredient in my azalaic acid) and niacimide (which seems to be in everything!) but I think will avoid spicules. @IlovePond is that the active ingredient in the reedle shot products? I meant to buy a couple of the 100 (lowest) strength to try in my last SK order but bought 1000 instead! Am definitely not planning to use those any time soon….

So glad you asked this, feeling happier about my many open products, thing is, I have a set of serum, eye cream, moisturiser in a wash bag I take to the gym, another set in the bathroom, and 2 on the dressing table (one with retinol, one without so I can interleave them), oh and another set that permanently lives in my 'going away' wash bag. Takes an age to get through toner, but I do keep the mini bottles so I can decant into them for the different places. I suppose this is an excuse for liking minis, but mostly I just think they're really cute

Opened the Liberty email this morning and wondered why it had a photo of a roll of toilet paper posing as a posh candle

Thank you!! I’ve just used this method and stacked it with the Clinique 3 for 2 to stock up on things I use regularly. So, 3 for 2, plus 20% off, plus your code for 15% more — really excellent 🙏
