Wardrobe Update after Weight Loss

Hi All

I was hoping someone would please be able to help...

I have recently lost just over 8st in weight (still have 3st to go, but I am working on it!). I have never been someone who is in to fashion, and at my heaviest weight it was a case whereby if it fit, I would wear it, regardless of what I looked like. I had almost a uniform of black skinny jeans and a top.
Now that I have lost some weight, I am wanting to treat myself to some clothes but I have no idea where to start! Can anyone recommend some brands / trends for someone in their mid-30s please?
I have enough work clothes, so really looking for more casual weekend clothes. In particular, I am going out for dinner and cocktails with my friends in a couple of weeks and I have nothing to wear! I associate going out with a nice dress, but that was back in my 20s, so am not sure how to dress nicely.

I am 5ft1, dress size of between 12-16 (depending on the cut) with a larger chest and tummy than I would like.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Wow congratulations on your weight loss! How exciting that you can plan a new wardrobe. A good place to start might be to create a Pinterest board of looks you’re drawn to, and spot any themes that emerge. Next step is to try out looks - maybe from reasonably priced shops first rather than going for something expensive and regretting it. Maybe look at H&M etc to start with. Try to stick with decent fabrics though (cotton, linen). Let us know how you get on! Have fun 🤩

Well done!

I lost 5 stone a few years ago and had a similar problem. I live in Baukjen and Uniqlo, but I’m not very adventurous. I’m also 5’ 1” so have to stick to what fits me length wise! I’ve been advised to do one of those John Lewis stylist appointments, but I haven’t got around to it yet.
