Experience of birmingham jewellery quarter with a more modest budget.

I have had a suggestion of going to the Birmingham jewellery quarter for a peice of jewellery I am wanting in remembrance of My Mum.
My budget is only £500/750.
Has anybody been to BJQ on this type of budget?

I’ve been a number of times with very different budgets over 30 years. I have never bought. I find it a very difficult place to shop. I think you need inside knowledge and to know where the hidden places are. Just walking around is quite soul destroying.

So you wouldn't think it's worth the three hour drive each way from the sounds of it?

Could you combine it with doing something else so you didn't do three hours just for that? Make a weekend of it?

Or of you can share very roughly where you're based, posters might have suggestions of good places to go that are nearer.

Do you have any jewellery from your mum that you could have remodelled? Your budget won't stretch far in the JQ but remodelling an existing piece of jewellery might be more achievable for your budget.

Otherwise would you consider a pre owned piece? They can be surprisingly affordable. I recently lusted after an edwardian pendant in a jewellery in Colchester which was 14k gold but less than £300. I am hoping DH slipped off to buy it for me for Christmas as he went AWOL for half an hour while we were shopping!

Thanks for your comments.
To be honest I didn't really know what to expect JQ just that it exists 😆
Closest city is probably Lincoln to me. So two hours really.
