Leopard print shoes - AIBU?!

I need opinions on these shoes I've just ordered please cos I'm having second thoughts...

Leopard Print Shoes

I normally wouldnt touch leopard print with a barge pole, but it has moved on from Bette Lynch back in the day and I've started to appreciate it used as a neutral (perimenopause has done wonderful things to my brain!) But are these shoes a step too far? I wear mostly casual dresses in black, navy, khaki day to day

Love them! (F55) They are really funky and will definately go with your current wardrobe staples to jazz it all up a bit.

I love a pop of leopard with white and navy.

I don’t personally love these particular trainers though. The white V makes them look like bad Veja fakes and the burgundy laces are random. But (obviously) you do do.

Leopard print, for me, is for women who either like the look of it, or who use words like “snazzy” or “funky”. The emphasis is generally on comfort with the print being a concession towards not being entirely dull. It takes a lot of inherent style to pull off leopard print imho!

Love this post up thread is followed up with “Love them! (F55) They are really funky and will definately go with your current wardrobe staples to jazz it all up a bit.” from @Lisajacj70

case in point I guess. 😂

@Notsosweetcarolinei was also just raising a smile at that 😁

I'm not keen on the style of the shoes but I'm not against leopard print per se. I have leopard print Mary Janes on today.

Leopard print is definitely a neutral. I love them.

I’m not sure how that can be true, this thread alone shows it is very divisive, and people saying it jazzes up,or is funky or a pop etc, which is not the words used for a neutral.

Ah, the jazz funk pop folk are probs new to leopard print. Those of us that have been wearing it for decades treat/style it as camel or black, and it goes with everything.

IMO a neutral means a colour (or in this case print) that you can wear with any other colour. That doesn't preclude it also being 'funky' or 'a pop' or 'jazzing' things up NOTE I use those words as quoted, I haven't used them myself!

exse24Londoner · Today 15:29

I don't think they are remotely Bet Lynch - she would never have worn flats!!

they're not something you would see anyone under 40

the colours make them super-flexible in terms of matching with an outfit & combined with obvious comfort - if you like them then why would you not???

WildCherryBlossom · Today 15:35

I have several pairs of leopard print shoes. I generally wear them with otherwise fairly plain outfits, as PP suggested. I like yours OP. Particularly the burgundy laces.

OnceYoureToastYouCanNeverBeBread · Today 17:03

Never mind the shoes @ForestHare

I wear mostly casual dresses in black, navy, khaki day to day
can you send some links for your casual dresses please? I am really struggling. I live my live in jeans and am wanting to move away from them into dresses/skirts but I’m struggling with casual. Everything looks far too dressy to me. TIA

ForestHare · Today 17:45

I love them!! I especially like them with the trousers hanging over them, but I'll play around with them and dresses as well.

I have always like rounder toed shoes for looks and comfort, and now I'm officially over the hill I care even less about trends - I just didn't want to look like I was trying to look jazzy!!

@OnceYoureToastYouCanNeverBeBread my dresses are a few years old at this point, but theyre cheap cotton/jersey and must have pockets! I pick them up whenever I see them and am not fussy about brand (so long as theyre not see through and have pockets!) so often find them in Tesco, Asda, Tu etc by chance.

As a leopard print lover (usually have a dash of it on most days).

I'm not a huge fan of these for myself.

I have quite big feet though so I feel these would chunky out my feet too much and im not keen on the white.

But I'd love them on someone else if that makes sense.

I wore a gingham dress and a leopard print belt the other day and it may sound rank but it worked and if not didn't work for other people well .....who cares. 😍

Everyone else in my office was in big standard suit and I got at least 4 "ooh you look nice today".

Made my day

I often get "I knew you were in as I saw a flash of leopard print

(Typing this whilst next to my leopard print throw)

Honestly this whole leopard print is a neutral thing…I feel like it was said by someone 20 years ago and we swallowed it. It’s really really not.

SuitcaseAndSecrets · Today 20:17

I have these .. l call them trainers... and im 67.. l wear with my Khaki and beige linen midi dresses. My Halara wide leg jeans and a neutral top.. and other items of clothing.

ForestHare · Today 20:27

Are trainers not a type of shoe?!

OP posts:
Overtheatlantic · Today 20:35

Exactly. I mean, what is a shoe? I thought it was an umbrella term for what goes on your feet.
