Has anyone found a body moisturiser that helps improve the look of your skin? I’m 57 now and can see my skin’s looking drier. It’s also needs as much help as it can get just to look better.
can anyone recommend something?
thanks

Dove Pro age lovers - is it the lotion or the butter in the tub? I bought the former when it first came out. I binned it after a few uses. It felt sticky with a strong smell. Perhaps the formula has changed?

@musketeers123where do you get the brushes from. Do you also just use Bio Oil with lotion or just on its own? And do you use the original BO or the newer Natural version?

FreddysFingers · 31/05/2026 19:48

I love Garnier body tonic which is a light gel like consistency, but they also do a more moisturising version: https://amzn.eu/d/0gW7LGcj they're great quality and last ages:

Cannot speak highly enough of bio-oil, game changer

Vaseline intensive care mature skin rejuvenation
Purpley bottle

Absolutely this. My legs have completely changed their appearance. In fact I've just been sitting on the sofa admiring them 😁

lindyloo57 · 31/05/2026 20:07

I use flexitol dry foot and leg cream, it's what they use in hospital, I get it from boots.

SpiralSister · 31/05/2026 20:43

Q+A Ceramide lotion - cheap, smells delicious, absorbs quickly. Patch of scaly dry skin on leg for 20 odd years - gone!

When your skin is damp from the shower put oil on, baby oil, Aveeno, palmers, any body oil (olive oil also works). Rub it in then take off the excess with a towel and tour skin will glow.

Is it greasy though? My skin is very dry but I cant stand greasy lotions so tends to avoid putting anything on ☹️

I find it rubs in after a shower really well. Skin feels moisturised but I wouldn’t say particularly greasy! I’ve even converted my 3 daughters in their 20s- they all love it too.

Stinks of sweat. I think you can get a travel size, try it first. Was excited to try it, could only use it twice.

Ummm no it doesn’t

I like oils (Weleda skin food spray oil is good) but it's a bit messy.
I've recently discovered Mixa cica repair lotion. It contains 5% urea and is really moisturising. I like the smell too. You can get it in Superdrug.

Ameliorate body lotion, not cheap, not great smelling but totally effective on my 67 year old skin

Can’t beat Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion.

Have you tried the Palmer's coconut oil formula body lotion?
Just as good as the cocoa butter one & with a delicate but not overpowering scent of coconut.
Works great on my 70+ years old skin.😊

Aveeno
dove and nivea give me eczema and I don’t like the strong odour from them

I tried this and baby oil brought me out in horrible spots.

I don’t use baby oil as I hate the smell I use palmers or l’Occitane when I feel fancy.

I don’t find it greasy but then I’ve not used it for a while. Currently using diprobase which defo isn't greasy. I hate body oils, even dry ones as can’t stand that greasy feeling either.

Ophy83 · 01/06/2026 09:08

You can now get Mixa in the UK. I use the panthenol bottle (40s, very dry skin if I don't moisturise)

petitpasta · 01/06/2026 10:21

I picked this up about 4 weeks ago on a whim while shopping in Sainsburys and it's been amazing for my dry skin. It's also helped with the bumpy appearance of my arms. Super cheap too!

I was coming here to say that! It’s transformed my feet from awful painful cracked trotters with excruciating corns and various verruca like things (like that ALL my life!) to soft, smooth, pain free and silky. I’ve put it on under socks every day for around a year. It’s been life changing as I’ve had sore feet ever since cramming them in to stilettos etc in the 80s and even worse rubbing them to death in Birkenstocks in the noughties. If it can do that to feet it’s got to be amazing elsewhere! I usually try and get it for about 3.99 on offer x

This is really interesting, I have terrible feet but have never found anything that helped.

Avon do some cracked heel cream which seems to work well.

1emma19 · 01/06/2026 12:53

Urea-based creams in the 5–10% range are really good because they smooth crepey texture/help the skin hold moisture better, while ceramide-based lotions support the skin barrier so it looks less depleted throughout the day. putting moisturizer on slightly damp skin right after a shower makes it absorb better.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 01/06/2026 20:57

I used to like palmers cocoa butter as it was a good, non-greasy moisturiser, but I wasn’t keen on smelling of chocolate. The decision was taken out of my hands when I suddenly became allergic to it. Hives everywhere.
