Has anyone found a body moisturiser that helps improve the look of your skin? I’m 57 now and can see my skin’s looking drier. It’s also needs as much help as it can get just to look better.
can anyone recommend something?
thanks

Nivea blue pump. I always keep a bottle by the bed, by my desk, by the sofa, in the kitchen and in the bathroom, and I have a travel size in my work bag.

I found the Nivea “smoothing” one in the white bottle actually does what it says and my wrinkled décolletage is much improved.

I’ve been using a daily body lotion since my teens. I moisturise my whole body after every shower or bath. I chop and change what I use, at the moment it’s the Clarins Tonic Balm. Consistency is key.

I love the Eucerin lotion, closely followed by Mixa, which has many of the same qualities but is cheaper to purchase and not medical grade.

Notsosweetcaroline · 31/05/2026 07:50

Bio oil, twice a day, I’ve been using about 3 months or so, just on my upper arms and décolletage, and was in the car recently and noticed a major difference in the skin in my upper arms v lower, needless to say I now do full arm! The skin looks, almost blurred, if that makes sense, I kept looking at them and thinking why does my skin look like that, all soft and blurry then realised.

i moisturise all over each day with either rituals or Laura mercier scented moisturiser, but nothing looks like my skin above the elbow.

id also recommended Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream for your chest, it works wonders, you can also apply anywhere, but try shins and heels. Mine are soft and smooth looking and I had terrible dry cracked skin before, as I am often bare foot.

ginislife · 31/05/2026 08:03

I think the answer really is, it doesn’t matter what you use, just be consistent. My bff has used Palmers Cocoa Butter forever. Shes 73 and got the skin of a teenager. Me, I rarely use anything and realised the other day I have skin like a lizard so have started with the daily application (I’m 65) - Clarins body lotion as it’s what I had. 5 days in and already I can see results. Consistency is key, product not so much.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 31/05/2026 08:29

Neutrogena for me but agree with PPs that consistency is key.

I used to only need to moisturise my legs but now also my arms. And dont forget your feet (all over, not just the tops).

Hybird · 31/05/2026 08:36

My recommendations are Nivea Aftersun. I took it away on a long road trip purely because I got a bottle that was not too small or big. So it wasn’t used as an aftersun just as a lotion. My skin felt amazing at the end of the trip so carried on buying it. Always on offer somewhere. The smell also reminds me of holidays. It is however a cooling lotion and in the winter I did struggle with that. Mentally I think I need a more normal lotion rather than after sun in colder months.

If you struggle with applying body lotion everyday here’s an incentive

Photos should read the other way round!

The Dove Pro Age lotion is really good. Contains AHAs.

But I agree with the person who said as long as you use a lotion daily you'll see results. I used to hate the idea of being slathered in lotion but now I've realised the key is to not apply too much and to rub vigorously until it's absorbed. Not quite sure why it took so long for that to occur to me!

This is the best body lotion! It got rid of my chicken skin on upper arms and I no longer get strawberry skin on my legs. I love that it is always on offer too

Lampzade · 31/05/2026 09:33

Astral . Much more effective than many of the expensive moisturisers

I’ve just checked and it’s actually called “firming” lotion. Not smoothing. White bottle.

gingercat02 · 31/05/2026 14:16

I have always loved Soap and Glory in the pump bottle for a good all over moisturiser. Probably not very fashionable but does the job and smells nice. Few tanning drops in it in the spring and summer.

Alouest · 31/05/2026 15:26

My favourites are Aveeno creamy oil and Mixa. Both fairly neutral scents and very effective.

Second this - I’ve tried high end and this is very good - it’s slightly runny but has a consistency and feels your skin feeling hydrated and moisturised
otherwise the blue cerave in the big jar

TiredMagpie · 31/05/2026 17:45

Another vote for blue Nivea in the big pump bottle.

Palmer’s Coconut hydrate oil has done wonders for my dry, white, freckly, itchy 70+ skin.
and it smells great and only about £6 a bottle x

I was coming here to say that! It’s transformed my feet from awful painful cracked trotters with excruciating corns and various verruca like things (like that ALL my life!) to soft, smooth, pain free and silky. I’ve put it on under socks every day for around a year. It’s been life changing as I’ve had sore feet ever since cramming them in to stilettos etc in the 80s and even worse rubbing them to death in Birkenstocks in the noughties. If it can do that to feet it’s got to be amazing elsewhere! I usually try and get it for about 3.99 on offer x

Cetraban or diprobase. Not sexy but amazing moisturising results. Used to be only able to get on prescription but now boots sell it.

Another vote for Cetraben. I use moisturiser daily after my shower but still had dry skin until I switched to Cetraben lotion. Wouldn’t use anything else now.

I have used body lotion every day since I was a teenager and my skin is still very soft in my 60s . When I was skint I used any old cheap stuff . The key is to be consistent and moisturise at least once a day .

This is me. I moisturizer top to toe every day, I'm 62 and feel very good 😁

Is it greasy though? My skin is very dry but I cant stand greasy lotions so tends to avoid putting anything on ☹️

Lymphatic brushes for your face/neck 2 times a day are amazing 👏 Also BioOil on face and body 👌 Has made such a difference to my face and general skin tone. I am 55 and everybody says I look younger 💕

ConstantlyFuriosa · 31/05/2026 19:36

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Body lotion is pretty good.

Neal's Yard frankincense, the big tub.

This… the scent is divine.
plus always have a big squirty bottle of original Palmers Cocoa Butter on the go as well.

Nottinghillrose · 31/05/2026 19:45

Dove Pro Age is great.
