Do comfy bras exist?

I’m on the lookout for a comfy bra. I’m fed up with the underwire cutting into me especially in this warm weather. Has anyone tried gel bras? Are they any good? Or does anyone else have any recommendations? Ideally I’d want something that has a clasp at the back. Thank you.

I bought some conturve ones and they’re pretty comfy/supportive but I wasn’t happy with the size (they recommended an XL based on my measurements. Anyway, I requested a return, and they told me to keep them and they’d refund me minus postage. I’d ordered two so I kept them and do wear them but just as a sports bra as I don’t mind looking a bit squished 😬

I often wear an M&S non-wired total support bra. It’s very comfortable. It has a hook and eye fastening though. I like the fact that it has three hooks and quite thick straps because I find it more supportive. I bought it when I couldn’t stand wearing an underwire anymore.

The Celeste D'or gel ones have been recommended on here. I bought a similar, cheaper gel bra, and it is very comfortable.
However, I just spent a princely £9.99 on 3 bralettes on Amazon, and they are genuinely the comfiest bras I've ever owned.

Depends how you are dressing OP but in warm weather I’d fault to Sweaty Betty sports bras.

they give support and are comfy, I wear under linen shirts and cotton t-shirts all the time.

@Squirrelsnut which are the Amazon bralettes please?

Theraininspainishere · Today 17:17

I’ve been braless for years now due to comfort. I ordered the gel ones recently from Amazon as I sometimes find certain clothes would look better with a bit of lift and they were rubbish - very loose and just sort of sat on my boobs. So I returned them and im
braless still…….
I’m about a 34D in my 40’s and the sky doesn’t fall in if you don’t wear a bra…….

KeeepWalking · Today 17:30

I now only wear M&S bralettes. 34f and they provide plenty of support and really comfortable.

I went to Braviasimo to be fitted and am very impressed with the two bras I bought. The instore experience wasn’t brilliant but the fitter was and got me exactly what I wanted (a t shirt and a pretty bra). Both are very comfortable.

Oldraver · Today 18:10

I usually wear the soft bras that are shaped like a crop top (I take out the stupid padding as it's not needed DD/E cup. They are ideal for work but don't give you a brolly and shape but keep everything from jiggling around

I also have some Sainsbury's cotton bras that are more like a traditional bra with hood fastening. The bigger size cup has three hooks

I’d love to find a wireless bra that lifts, but crucially, separates. I have decided I’m done with wires but I can see why they were invented. Every wireless bra I’ve tried has no means of separation and I end up with uniboob which I hate

Hackedoffinoldage · Today 18:36

Only wear Snag bras now. Very comfy, non wired and fasten at the back.

Yes these. I’ve got one with sort of lace and another which is smooth. Also got a Tu bralette which is supportive but comfy. After years of wired bras hoiking up my sizeable norks I’m finally letting them breathe.

VerityUnreasonble · Today 18:56

Asda also sell some really nice, and comfortable, non wired bras.

Comfyin unpadded bralettes.

I have just replaced all of my wired bras with M&S flexifit non-wired ones.
They are extremely comfy and supportive. Separation is not great, but I am all about comfort these days.

StrikeForever · Today 19:14

I am well endowed, but decided to try the soft fabric bra tops (look like bralettes) from Boody. I did not expect any support and in the recommend size, I was right. I’m a sewist though, so I took three inches off the back band and two inches off the shoulder straps and it was great. Extremely comfortable and great support for my my D cups. I ordered more sizing down two sizes. They are tight to get over my shoulders, but perfect otherwise. I then ordered one from Step One of men’s underpants fame. They have started doing women’s wear now and have great colours. I also went down two sizes on the recommended size. Same experience as with Boody. They are all delightful 🙂

LittlePinkDinosaur · Today 19:22

I'd recommend going to bravissimo or measuring yourself using the boob or bust calculator (theres also a Facebook page) and then getting bras from bravissimo or other recommended brands. I wear a bravissimo satine in 30G and find it very comfy. Because I'm relatively small band/large cup i find it tricky to pick up bras cheaply. M&S don't often stock that size!

I was about to post exactly this.

Turnitoffnonagain · Today 19:37

Over a certain size or depending on the way your boobs "sit" an underwired bra gives separation and support. If I wear a non underwired bra I get a monoboob.😞
Agree, the flexifit fabric is so comfy, but my girls get a bit sweaty after a while.🙆

I have a Wacoal Halo bra that is incredibly comfortable

Same here. I’ve put on weight now so can’t fit into my wired bras but it would have to be a special bra for me to buy another wired one.

InvisibleToTheNakedEye · Today 20:00

If your bra is uncomfortable, it’s not fitting properly. Go to www.booborbust.co.uk and measure yourself and read about body/breast shape and bra styles.
