Best tinted moisturiser for middle aged skin?

Any ideas? I've literally never used one before. Went into Boots and was totally overwhelmed by options... left empty handed.

I'm after something for pale skin with an SPF. My skin is pretty good, just a bit menopausal and meh. Don't mind paying up to about £20. Ish.

What would you recommend?

I keep seeing ads for the Trinny London one, it’s slightly more at £29 I think, I’m hoping someone will come along and tell us it’s rubbish!

Eborium CC Cream, I started using it about a month ago and wished I started using it years ago! I’m 54, it really helps to cover a multitude of sins whilst not being heavy!

Clinique moisture surge cc cream is amazing.

3oldladiesstuckinalavatory · Yesterday 16:49

Perfect! Thank you - I'll try both of those tomorrow

Hi. Look for lightweight water-based tint with glycerin/hyaluronic acid in the base. For pale cool-toned skin specifically, check that the shade description mentions "porcelain, ivory, or fair cool" (anything with a peach/yellow descriptor will read slightly orange). A satin or natural finish is better than matte on skin that's lost some of its natural luminosity.

Another vote for Eborium.

Another for Eborium. Make sure to get the CC cream and not the BB cream though - the CC is lighter and more glowy

This one and also L’Oréal Paris magic bb cream which is much cheaper but no spf

Clinique moisture surge cc cream is amazing.

I tried this but found it really thick and gloopy

Purplecatshopaholic · Yesterday 18:45

Totally agree re Erborian cc cream. Lighter than the bb cream. Has some spf in there. Order the small size to try it. I have dry/combo skin and it’s bloomin fab.

I use the No7 either the cc or bb cream, not sure what the difference is but like them both for all round use. You can usually get 3for2 deals and the staff are pretty good at explaining what’s what and colour matching.

I have got the Trinny one, when I first got it I wasn’t sure, but, I’m sorry to say it’s perfect for a light weight moisturiser in summer, gives a really nice glow. You sort of have to pop it on and then look at it half an hour later and it changes. I have repurchased it but it think it was nearer £50. I sent DH so he could treat me!

I love the Charlotte Tilbury everyday one

CarpeVitam · Yesterday 18:52

Another vote for Eborian CC

Another Eborian CC but I use the red correct one and it goes on really well and evens out skin tone and red blotches.

Whettlettuce · Yesterday 18:55

The no7 skin tint is good

I’ve tried the Trinny BFF! It’s good if you are after something sheer and glowy but I’ve got sensitive skin and it did make it sting a little so I didn’t repurchase. If you can visit a counter the staff are always delightful and often give samples for you to try.

I really rate the Erborian CC, it doesn’t look like you are wearing make up, just that you have great skin. I don’t like the BB crème though, it’s too heavy and none of the colours are right on me.

Lancaster Infinite Bronze is fabulous if anyone is after more of a dedicated suncream/tinted moisturiser rather than the spf as an afterthought. I get the light/medium. Would say it’s better for holiday/ if you already have a slight tan though. It would be too warm for porcelain or v cool skin tone. It’s on offer at the moment. I wore this when I was skiing in April and didn’t burn and it’s been great in the heatwave.

if anyone has any intel on the Lisa Eldridge skin tint would love to know more!

Erborian CC. I've tried so many over the years but this is the one.

Nitgel · Yesterday 19:21

I always use Nars Pure Radiance its so light.

KrazyKatty · Yesterday 19:28

I’d avoid anything containing hyaluronic acid on mature skin as it’s very drying.

Trinny
clarins

Another Eborian CC but I use the red correct one and it goes on really well and evens out skin tone and red blotches.

Edited

Do you apply it as a complete base layer, or just over the red areas?

(I have rosacea spots similar in appearance to acne and general redness).

Morepositivemum · Yesterday 23:14

Another for clarins but the shade range is very limited

Gunpowder

Thank you so much!!! I wanted the Trinny one but sheer and not for sensitive skin means I’m out!!

Thanks so much for all these suggestions. I’ll brave Boots again and let you know how I get on!

I like Boots no.7 City Light in Fair. Sheer coverage + SPF, and it's on special offer online
