Best tinted moisturiser for middle aged skin?

Any ideas? I've literally never used one before. Went into Boots and was totally overwhelmed by options... left empty handed.

I'm after something for pale skin with an SPF. My skin is pretty good, just a bit menopausal and meh. Don't mind paying up to about £20. Ish.

What would you recommend?

I like the Erborian BB on my t-zone and the CC on my cheeks. In Boots in my city, if you find someone on one of the beauty counters they'll either find a sample sachet or put some in a pot for you.

When it runs out I'm tempted to try Sculpted by Aimee Hydrating Tint which comes in lots of pale shades.

Do you apply it as a complete base layer, or just over the red areas?

(I have rosacea spots similar in appearance to acne and general redness).

You apply like a foundation, so all over. It looks green out of the tube but turns skin colour when you rub it in.

It is a fairly light coverage but I don't use anything over the top as I don't like the look of most foundations. As someone said above it just makes you look like you've got good skin rather than wearing makeup.

I like Boots no.7 City Light in Fair. Sheer coverage + SPF, and it's on special offer online

I use this too - lovely light moisturiser.

I love the NARS one

YenSon · Today 07:27

Ooh, thanks for this post! I’m on the lookout too.
I have used No7 but didn’t like it. I quite like the Garnier and Nivea but can’t use these in the winter as even the fair/light is too dark for my skin. They’re ok for summer.
i have been using The Ordinary tinted serum over winter which looks and feels amazing on my dry skin. I really really love this but need a darker shade…

I think I’ll check out the Garnier Vitamin C and Eborian CC

Eborium CC Cream, I started using it about a month ago and wished I started using it years ago! I’m 54, it really helps to cover a multitude of sins whilst not being heavy!

I love this! Gives my skin a lovely glow without being heavy like a foundation.

WhosGotTheKeysToMyBimma · Today 07:42

Recently I bought loreal bright reveal tinted glow spf 50

It's a pale beige so it might be too dark for you, but it's a very light coverage and makes my skin look great.

The boots no7 hydraluminous moisturiser is good too and comes in more shades. No spf though so i use lrp anthelios first.

Favourites are Nars and Bare Minerals complexion rescue. If you have a decent boots beside you they stock both and can give you samples to take home and try.

Trinny London. Easy to use and very good on mature skin.

Cannotbelievepeoplecanbesojudgemental · Today 08:01

Have you discovered the Tropic range yet? If not, I have found it amazing as I'm nearing 50. The CC cream is brilliant. It goes on white and adapts to your skin colour. And is spf 50 too. I highly recommend.

WindTheBobbinAgain · Today 08:03

Beauty pie. Same as Laura Mercier tint but fraction of price.

LEfan · Today 08:07

The Lisa Eldridge skin tint is great. Much lighter than a foundation. It goes on flawlessly with your fingers and the coverage is good. If you contact LE online they will send out free samples to try and can match your colour from a photo taken in natural light. I use it everyday and love it! Particularly good for mature skin, I'm 48.

i’m living the garbier vitaming c glow lotion, spf 50. having tried many many in the past this is by far the best for me. light, gives a bit of colour and a evens skin out.

I'm using this having seen it recommended in the beauty section of a Sunday magazine.
And it only costs about a tenner.

I love the NARS one

Me too, the one with SPF.

B2T · Today 08:22

My summer go to is Estée Lauder Daywear, it goes in white and colour changes but now considering trying the Eborium. Anyone tried both that can compare?

Notonthestairs · Today 08:25

Hourglass Veil.

Try it in Space NK. Horribly expensive but I keep coming back to it.

measuretwicecutonce · Today 08:37

Another vote for Garnier bb cream, great coverage, cheap as chips!

PortSalutPlease · Today 09:00

I have tried them ALL.

the eborium one is good, the NARS one is great, but the best one I’ve tried is the Rimmel kind and free one!

Justus6 · Today 09:25

I love the No7 CC cream so light glowy and good coverage. Been using it for ages now.

Thank you for your reply 🌞

I've ordered their travel size. There should be just enough to decide on my preferred application method 🤞

I'll test brush application first, then using hands/fingers (thinking a sponge might soak up a lightweight consistency product).

Clinique superdefence city block, goes on nicely and SPF 50

Sandybeachbums · Today 16:36

Another vote for Lisa Eldridge skin tint. It’s fabulous stuff.
You wouldn’t think it would do much as it’s a very thin formula and you only apply 2 drops but somehow it transforms my 46 year old skin! Highly recommended.

EverythingIsComputer · Today 16:40

Erborian, either the bb or cc. Boots and space NK will let you try them, ask to take some away in a tester pot before you decide which to buy

Another for clarins but the shade range is very limited

Gunpowder

Thank you so much!!! I wanted the Trinny one but sheer and not for sensitive skin means I’m out!!

I have very sensitive skin and find the Trinny one soothing and trouble free. I wonder if @Gunpowder is allergic to a specific ingredient in there.

I use this too - lovely light moisturiser.

Me too. I have
dry, sensitive skin and it works for me Smile
