Advice for reducing a teenage boy’s stretch marks after a growth spurt

After a huge growth spurt, my 14 year old son has a LOT of stretch marks. They’re at the top of his arms, across his shoulders, all over his back and his hips. He is so self conscious about them as they do show in a T-shirt.

Has anyone had similar with their teen and found anything that works to reduce the redness or help to improve these for him that is not a scam? Would scar cream work?

bio oil is pretty good

They will fade over time but won't go. They're scars caused by the skin tearing and very few lotions and potions will penetrate the skin at a depth where they'll even reach the scar. DH and DD both got a lot of stretch marks in puberty due to an underlying condition but they've faded and aren't that noticeable at all. I had them everywhere during pregnancy and they were red and angry but soon faded to silver.

Moisturising will help with comfort and reassurance will help with managing it. I'm a secondary teacher and see many dc with differences, some permanent and some temporary and am always pleasantly surprised by the way that generation accept, celebrate, or even don't notice these things in the way we worry they might.

Two of my now adult sons got stretch marks across their backs and hips following big growth spurts. They don't go away, but they do fade and are barely noticeable now. DS3 likes to tell people they are the result of a fight with a bear Grin but in reality I don't think anyone has ever commented on them.

Second bio oil. Maybe a light body moisturiser too (Vaseline intensive care do a nice aloe one).

Creams don’t work in my experience but they will fade.

Hudson Williams (the actor) has stretch marks and talks about them positively in his Men’s Health workout video. Might make your son feel a bit better.
