Help me find suitable shorts

I need practical shorts for an activity/walking holiday in Spain in July.

Tbf it's the kids doing most of the activities, but I still need shorts that ate:

Super comfy
Breathable/cool in hot weather
You can properly move about in
Suitable for a pear shape

I usually default to dresses/skirts as I find them much more flattering on my shape, I carry all ny weight on my upper thighs and bum.

I wear lots of sports legging to the gym, but I cook in these if I try to wear them outside on a hot day.

Following this as I’m the same shape as you and finding shorts is an absolutely nightmare.

Isn't it? I don't know how I've managed to get a good chunk through adulthood without conquering this.

Doesn't help that I'm quite petite too, so I need enough length in the shorts to cover the chunk I carry, but if the shorts are too long I look like my legs are about 4 inches tall.

Definitely need them to be a bit flared though.

Have a look at Acai. Expensive but worth it. They cut for pear shapes. I’m a chunky 16, and they have revolutionised my shorts wearing. I spend a lot of time outside, and Acai at the best fitting women’s outdoor wear I have come across. One of the few brands I’ll buy at full price before they sell out of my size.

I just wear cotton dresses with leggings shorts underneath.

I have these for precisely this purpose - they’re not beautiful but they do the job.

You can also get similar ones with hidden built in (thin) cycling shorts underneath, I don’t like these as cycling shorts always dig in or roll up on me but I think that’s my specific thigh shape…

I like Sweaty Betty Explorer shorts. I bought a couple of pairs for an activity holiday a few years ago. They’re lightweight and comfortable.

Try Decathlon's hiking shorts. I have these in an olive colour that's completely sold out now (they were the ONLY Bermuda shorts I could find last year!) and they're great and have lots of pockets. Sizing is reasonably true to the size guide in my experience.
