Help me style this dress

I've got this dress to wear to a wedding on Saturday, on the beach.
I like it, but I think it needs something to break it up/define the waist.

I thought maybe a wideish belt with a gold or tan statement buckle but not sure and now very short of time to source anything!

Will wear with flat, either tan or yellow.

Can anyone help me find the right belt - or happy for other suggestions too!

I think that it's a lovely dress which doesn't need additions, OP.

Hair up and nice earrings plus a dash of make up and perfume may well be all you need.

I wouldn't add a belt, it will only make you feel hotter if this intense heat continues.

Gettingbysomehow · 26/05/2026 18:27

Its a gorgeous dress in a lovely colour. I think it just needs some nice jewellery. I dont think it needs a belt either.

CaptainBeefheartspal · 26/05/2026 18:32

I think a gold belt would look great.

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 26/05/2026 18:33

I think that kimono posted by @Overtheatlantic would look AMAZING with that dress, it looks like it was made to go with it!🧡
You could still add a belt. Maybe navy, to pick out one of the kimono colours? This one comes in navy.

Ohgoose · 26/05/2026 18:33

I wouldn’t add a belt either. Jewellery (gold) and sandals will be fine.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 26/05/2026 18:36

I definitely wouldn’t break it up with a belt. Lovely dress. Agree with the PP who said gold sandals and jewellery.

TotHappy · 26/05/2026 19:38

Thank you all. I feel heartened by your approval of the dress - the only person who's seen me try it on so far is my mum and I could tell she thought it too boring and dowdy for a wedding.

I love coral.

I thought gold jewellery too.
I like the kimono, but don't think it would arrive in time.
I might try it with husband's belt and see what I think of belts in general...

I think a gold belt would be lovely with it OP. I recently got this one from Next to wear with a dress I’m wearing to a wedding in Aug. I’m really happy with it, lovely colour and good quality https://www.next.co.uk/style/su925608/g49197

sidneytweeney · 26/05/2026 21:10

Maybe flat tan or gold sandals, some delicate gold jewellery, and a little raffia clutch. Add a straw hat if it’s sunny and bring a light wrap for the evening.

TotHappy · 28/05/2026 20:19

What do we think of this?

It's a navy sequin belt. Not sure its the right one but I do quite like the belt look - I've time to go down to Next tomorrow and get a gold or raffia one if that would be better.

Definitely not, and please iron the dress before the wedding 😂

Notsosweetcaroline · 28/05/2026 20:22

No that belt doesn’t work it’s too heavy. I strongly suspect it will look a lot better without one, but that belt is a no,

TotHappy · 28/05/2026 20:30

Of course, yes, the dress needs an iron 😬

The navy belt isn't a good match, to be honest.

It says 'winter' while the dress says 'summer'.

I still think that you will feel cooler in this heat without a belt.

Notsosweetcaroline · 28/05/2026 20:38

I think it will look more elegant and expensive without a belt.

Doggymummar · 28/05/2026 21:05

It's a casual dress, perfect for the beach. I wouldn't try and dress it up, roll with it. Espadrilles and a raffia handbag big pair of shades

That’s not a beach dress, good grief, 😂

PhaedraTwo · 28/05/2026 21:13

No belt.

That's a shame then, as in her post it's exactly where she is going. Way to put the boot in

She’s going to a wedding on the beach, very different.

SoScarletItWas · 29/05/2026 09:59

Absolutely not a belt, certainly not that one and probably not any. It’s a gentle lacy fabric and belt will be too heavy against it.

The dress shape comes in at the waist naturally. Are you trying to nip it in a bit, is it a tad big round your waist? The only belt that could work is a slim gold one but that won’t do the nipping so well.

It’s a great dress for a warm day wedding. Leave your waist unrestricted for the booze and dancing and ENJOY!

B0D · 29/05/2026 10:00

Agree no belt needed, gold and raffia accessories. I’ve noticed someone in a similar if not the same dress on the street and thought it looked lovely on

Yes exactly this it was a vinted buy and it's a little too big. But you're all right- a belt will make me hotter and more uncomfortable so I'll skip it! Thank you all so much

It looks like a Nobody's Child dress. I agree that IF you must wear a belt then it needs to be tan with tan and gold accessories.

It's a shame you don't have a bit more time as you could have got the waist taken in a bit.
