Glowy base or primer / foundation

I've gone through a few BB creams / IT cosmetics foundation / Nars foundation and a few other primers but yet to find a good base that gives a bit of a glow

what do you use? Someone said a setting spray helps but I don't want to keep buying products on a whim as spending loads

thanks 😄

Following. I find setting spray makes me look flat and dull. It seems to remove any hint of a glow.

I am in love with my beauty pie wonderfilter brightening primer. It's the pink tube.

Even when I just wear it on its own it really looks good.

I’ve heard L’Oreal Lumi Glotion is supposed to be good. There’s also Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter. Both provide a glow and can be used on their own or under foundation/skin tints.

Eborian brightening cc cream is light but provides smooth even cover and a bit of glow. Love it

I use a small amount of Elizabeth Arden Nighttime Miracle as my primer, I apply it when my skin is still damp from serums and moisturiser so that it doesn't drag. Leaves a dewy glow, it's great for a base for foundation, keeps it from settling into poors and lines, and great for overnight pampering. I use it twice a day and it lasts ages. I also use it on my lips. Fabulous product.

I recently started using Maybelline grippy setting mist as a primer and on my beauty blender as well as a setting spray. It's hydrating and doesn't dry down very matte. I've also changed my foundation to Armani Luminous Silk as it's more glowy and also use their liquid blush and No7 highlighting drops to avoid powders as they were making my skin look less glowy. I changed my entire skincare routine to hydrating, alcohol free products because I was getting dry patches on my skin that make up was then sticking to. Natalie O'Neill is great for her skincare advice, but I also use ChatGPT to work out which products would specifically work for me. I recently turned 40 and watching Selena Marchand videos has given me some great insights into the type of products that will suit my skin now instead of trying to make the products I likes in my 20s and early 30s work for me now.

Some “glowy” products actually end up looking greasy or textured because they rely too heavily on shimmer instead of hydration and light reflection. I’d look for ingredients like glycerin, squalane, hyaluronic acid, dimethicone, and light-reflecting mica in small amounts. Dewy primers also tend to work better under lighter coverage foundations or skin tints. And yes a fine-mist setting spray can help take away flat powdery look.
