Hair extensions

I’m thinking about getting hair extensions, mainly to add volume to my fine hair but also a little extra length (my hair is around shoulder length now). I’ve spoken to my hairdresser about it, she is very good and honest about the pros and cons.
I’m looking for real life experience to add to that. Have you had extensions? What sort? Are they easy to care for? Do they feel comfortable? What’s brushing your hair like with them in? Can you put your hair up?

Happy to answer any questions.
I’ve had nano rings for around 2 years. They look pretty natural. You can wear your hair up though I don’t tend to but that’s just me!
Regarding upkeep, you need to use a good sulphate free shampoo & conditioner. Plus a decent heat protector/serum to stop them drying out.
I detangle them with a wide toothed comb when wet - if you tug on them too hard they will come out!
I have mine moved up every 10 weeks which costs around £100. The extensions themselves were about £250ish and last around 18 months if you look after them.

Thank you! Do you catch them when you brush your hair? Do they feel ready to be moved up?

Not really as they are very close to the roots. Obviously you have to brush or comb from the bead where the extension is, downwards, rather than from the root itself. You get used to them pretty quick and they just feel like normal hair. I’ve occasionally tugged the hairbrush a bit too hard on a knot and pulled the odd one out.

I got extensions 2 years ago. I have about 7 nano extensions on each side of my head as menopause had thinned my hair. Best money I have ever spent on myself.
They look very natural and nobody really knows but often get comments on my lovely hair.
I have then refitted about every 6-8 weeks and treat myself to new extensions every time as the rest of my hair has obviously grown so I like my new extensions to match the length.
My hair has never been as long! I'm 53 and I think my hairs the best it's every been. I look after them well and use a a sulphate free shampoo and conditioner. I wash my hair twice a week. Still wear my hair up and you can't see the bead where the extension attaches, I just arrange my hair carefully. I brush them carefully. Forget I've got them in now. Honestly the best money I've ever spent. I felt transformed as soon as I had them fitted. Get them. X

That’s great, thanks both so much. I’m feeling excited now! I put my hair up occasionally to stretch a bit longer between washes so probably want to carry on doing this, although hopefully it’ll look less flat and lifeless and maybe I won’t need to.
