What to pack for a French Eurocamp-style holiday if you want to look vaguely put together?

We're going to a campsite in France this year (not south so not as hot), and I'm already mulling over what to bring.

Every year I overthink what to bring and end up over-packing. This year I want a capsule wardrobe that actually works. I know about the Sudoku method, I know I should pack only items that work with other items, but somehow I end up overwhelmed and bringing six dresses and only wearing two. Plus lots of advice online seems to be aimed more at people who aren't going to be spending their time wrangling young kids and hanging around playgrounds.

Has anyone got this kind of dressing down to a fine art?

I definitely do not have it down but would also love to know the secret.

Pack for a weekend and add a few more tops and bottoms.
Every top needs to work with every bottom.

1 jeans,1 skirt, 1 shorts.
T-shirt for every day.

2 pairs of shoes - 1 of them comfortable trainers, the other pair a bit smarter. I find smart flipflops or sliders can pass as evening sandals (I wear arizonas).
Crocs are great for camping and poolside/beach.

This is helpful thanks!

I always start off with a list like this but somehow it spins out of control and I add more and more.

We used to do Eurocamp holidays in Italy when my DDs were little.
I always brought
3 swimsuits
2 pairs shorts - usually distressed denim.
2 tops to wear over swimsuit and shorts - usually an off the shoulder t shirt and a light lace poncho style top. These were just to throw on to protect from sunburn - it was usually hot enough to only wear swimsuit and shorts in the day. Easy.
5 dresses - very lightweight, usually maxi or midi. Could be worn for day trips out and dinner in the evening.
Hoodie for early mornings sitting on the balcony drinking coffee
One pair flat sandals
Midi heel mule for “fancy” meals.

We’ve done these holidays as well and we always enjoyed them.

which one are you going to? We used to go to Berny Rivière.

I would say that it’s a pretty casual holiday and it’s not necessarily that hot so I wouldn’t bother with anything very smart or tiny little sun dresses unless the forecast says otherwise.

I have pairs of harem trousers with nice fitted t shirts, denim shorts if hot. Casual maxi dress from Me & Em. Casual jumpsuits. Pair of light wide leg trousers. Shirt dress. Birkenstocks. Crocs. Trainers. Practical swimsuit or tankini if wrangling young DC.

We're going to Les Pins.

I've done holidays like this before but just never seem to get the packing right, This year I really don't want to bring too much.

I'm planning to do a wash mid-holiday which should hopefully cut down on overpacking, but I've such a bad habit of looking at what I've brought and then thinking "but what if?" and adding more.

I really need a more disciplined approach.
