I'm struggling with footwear that is supportive but still looks good!!

Ive got some foot/ankle weakness and heel pain from an old herniated disc. I had total foot drop which resolved with physio but the slight imbalance causes heel pain.
Anyway I am going on a road trip type holiday to a hot destination that will involve a lot of walking and am looking for some shoes that will look good but be gentle on my dodgy foot! Open to suggestions for sandals or trainers. I like neutrals and find New balances comfy but not sure they're supportive enough for what I need.

Have you looked at Joya shoes?

My flat footed husband has declared Salomons the most comfortable shoes out there. I think they are quite trendy too?!

Women's Walking Shoes

I have Brooks. They are so supportive and comfortable.

BridgetJonesV2 · 14/05/2026 19:07

My chiropodist recommended Joya and they really are like walking on clouds. I've got the trainers and can wear them all day without feeling any aches/pains. He told me to throw my Skechers in the bin as they had no support whatsoever.

Fitflops are great, I had plantar fascitis a few years ago and they were the only thing I could wear. They are my go to if I'm going to be on my feet a lot.

Go to a podiatrist. They'll make ypu bespoke insoles to support your foot in any shoes, except maybe sandals.

The comfiest shoes for walking I've ever owned were by merrel. With a vibram sole. I'm not sure they fit the looks good brief tho.

Hoff trainers also worth a look https://www.schuh.co.uk/brands/hoff/

My podiatrist recommended Geox or Fitflop.
