Gel nails

So I don't often get the chance to get my nails done but I recently paid £90 to get a gel manicure / pedicure.
It defintiely was just nails there wasn't any foot/ hand care involved just the usual oil at the end.
I always find pedicures last quite long on me so no issues there but I have just removed my nails after 13 days !
My first chip/ peel happened 5 days after !

I just think this is ridiculous- does anyone agree? £90 seems extortionate for something which lasted just beyond a week. Is this the typical experience with gel nails or is there something that was maybe done wrong ?
I have been off work so really barely using my hands as well !!

Yes, I bought into the gel nail hype and hated them every single time. They wrecked my nails, chipped and were a pain to remove. I do acrylics, if I do anything at all, but haven't done in a long time.

I feel like I'd much rather spend 30.minutes 2 or 3 nights a week painting them than 90 minutes in a salon and £90 for it to last 2 weeks ! Seems crazy to me I can't understand why anyone would pay that

I'm not normally a fan of gel nails but I get them done (a nude/natural/pink colour on my short nails as I don't like bright colours or extension) when I have an event coming up, so I don't have to worry about nails at least.
I did them last time exactly 17 days ago at the Chinese bar in my closest shopping centre, £20 and still going strong, no need to remove them yet as the regrowth is hidden by the natural colour!

You could try Glaize? It's a stick on nail varnish. I cannot have gell nails, but these work better. They last two weeks, no chipping, and cost a fraction of the amount you pay.

if you did try them, I'd recommend the made to measure ones.

I bought my own lamp for under £100 and do them myself every few months for weddings/events/holidays. They last about 8-10 days before they have regrowth or chips.

I do my own gel nails at home. Lasts 2 weeks at least… toes at least 4!

bet they rushed and didn’t let it cure properly
