Best Petite ranges recommendations

Hi everyone,

I have lost weight (thanks MJ) and totally lost when it comes to clothes now I have the opportunity to select from a wider range of clothes!

I am only 5ft 2 so at the moment, all the lovely co ords, wide trousers, maxi summer dresses - anything else that would suit taller people either drag on the floor or make me look a bit silly!

If you are short like me, where do you buy your clothes from?

Previously I lived in skinny jeans, leggings and dresses. I would like to try something different

Thanks so much in advance

I’m in the same situation myself. I’ve been too large for petite ranges prior to losing weight, despite being 5 foot 2. I have found River Island have upped their game with a petite range. It’s in some stores but of course there’s more availability online,

I do have a local River Island. Do they do click and collect?

Also thinking about it more. I unfortunately have a long body and short legs! Plus the calf muscles from earlier sporty days that were previously hidden under fat have reappeared and haven't diminished at all. I am probably difficult to dress😭

Second the recommendation for Sezane! M&S, Reiss and New Look both sell a number of their clothes in a petite option too.

I think wide leg trousers, maxi skirts, etc can look good on short ar@ses, but you have to get the proportions right. So, wide leg with tight top/vest. Perhaps a stirred top on a maxi dress that has a full skirt. It also works the other way round, so a mini skirt with a flowy top or shirt.

Yes to Boden. They have (or at least, used to) have a great linen petite range. https://www.boden.com/collections/womens-petite-range
M&S are ok, but quality is quite low this year.
Roman and Pixigirl have a few nice cotton/linen items, however you have to wade through a lot of polyester monstrosities before you find them.
Reiss has some lovely dresses.
The best petite jeans I have had come from River Island, M&S and Tu. No need to spend ££.
Not an awful lot of petite ranges in the shops, unfortunately, so most have to be ordered online. Good luck!

Women's Petite Clothing

Good things come in small packages, as is proven by our women's petite collection. Brimming with dresses, trousers, coats, and tops made to flatter, it's time to update your wardrobe.

M and S and Next seem good at the moment regarding trousers and different lengths.

Sadly very little choice on high street these days.
Following for ideas.
I used to get nice stuff at Wallis when I was last slim

GlamDress · 13/05/2026 08:19

Reiss jeans.

I am five 2 and wear wide trousers and maxi dresses too though and love them all. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sloelydoesit · 13/05/2026 16:00

Thanks everyone for your recommendations!
I would love to wear the wide trousers but my proportions are a bit off. I will get out there and try a few though to see if I can find a pair.

Boden, M&S, Next, ASOS. COS bizarrely is good if you buy the more fitted dresses, they seem to assume a short torso or deliberately do a high waist but if you're short it works well. Probably avoid the long sleeves though.
