Vinted parcel warning - new Large Letter option

Morning all. I sold an item yesterday (leggings), which came through with a message saying they had let someone buy using a disabled postage method but I could cancel if I wanted. I decided to proceed even though I'd have to go to the Post Office which is why I disabled Royal Mail in the first place.

Anyway, label comes through for a small parcel and it's Large Letter which has just been added to Vinted as an option. The Vinted guidelines for a small parcel I'm sure are for a padded envelope as medium is for items that would go in a shoebox.

I did manage to squeeze them into an A4 envelope and hope for the best but I would advise you to select medium if it's not going to go through a 2.5cm slot!

I had the exact same issue

BlueBlueBerries · 12/05/2026 10:58

If the labels have Marketplace Seller on, they will be accepted at no extra cost, even if the package is bigger than large letter. Otherwise, make sure your listings are Medium rather than Small and it will no longer give the Large Letter option to buyers.

Really? The message I got from them says max 2.5cm.

One of the other issues is that this option only seems to offer the option to print the label at home which I know is a problem for lots of people.

I fell foul of this this weekend as well. Sold a number of items, I only have InPost selected so chose small as they definitely will fit in the small locker, and all items came though as Royal Mail large letter than I had to print out at home and then squeeze the items into an envelope. I hope they get there and the buyer isn’t charged by Royal Mail as the postage wasn’t enough!

so annoyed. I can’t believe Vinted is over riding my posting choices

clickyteeclick · 12/05/2026 11:48

Same and I had to cancel both orders as don’t have access to Royal Mail. So annoying

jetlag92 · 13/05/2026 07:26

I'd have to edit my listings to say that that this item won't fit in a Royal Mail small!

It's that that annoyed me more than the sizing! I don't offer Royal Mail as you can't always use the scan and print option at the lockers - and you definitely can't with these Large Letter labels. I live right next to a set of lockers used by different carriers but for RM I have to drive.

Thanks for this heads up. Bizarrely, most of my settings hadn't changed except DHL drop off has been moved to an accepted form of postage, which I would never choose.

ButterYellowFlowers · 13/05/2026 09:37

I’ve had all sorts sent as a small letter from a teapot to jeans and a pottery chicken. Evri doesn’t really care. And it’s the seller that sets the postage size.

No, it isn't any more. And it's nothing to do with Evri. There is a new (as of this week) Royal Mail Large Letter option which is much smaller than a "small" with Inpost or Evri. I had a message from Vinted when the item sold saying they had allowed the buyer to use Royal Mail even though I had disabled it but I could cancel the order if I wanted to.

This is the size I offer. Small with Inpost is 8cm deep.

Just a heads up, Vinted can allow shipping options you have deselected, it’s not just with the new RM. It’s insane to me because I’ve obviously deselected them because I can’t use them. Yes, you can refund and cancel without penalty but it means reloading and losing all the likes the item had. I also find buyer get super suspicious of it even though it’s not the seller’s fault.

OriginalSkang · 14/05/2026 10:51

Oh, this must be what happened to me. I thought I'd accidentally clicked to print the label myself and had to come into work at the weekend to print it

Rachelshair · 14/05/2026 11:43

I think I had this earlier this week. I do have RM enabled, though wasn't aware of the large letter option.
I got an order with a printable label, not a QR code, which is not the norm for RM. I think it was a large letter one from memory. I thought it was a technical fault.
I don't have printable labels selected on my options because it is a faff doing the printing so it was an unwelcome development. I hope I don't get any more like that. It also wasn't tracked until it was delivered, so I thought it had got lost. I've unselected large letter now anyway!

Yup saw someone say this on a vinted facebook group. I’m going to have to turn off Royal Mail

OriginalSkang · 14/05/2026 12:26

Even when you turn it off they can still select it if that is the only thing in their area

Thechateau · 14/05/2026 12:29

I've got royal mail turned off and have had several buyers select it recently. Annoying

OriginalSkang · 14/05/2026 15:59

I had someone with an Address in the middle of Romford select Relay as their courier. I definitely didn't have in enabled. I have to drive two villages away to post it, and it was only £2 or something. I can't image that Relay is the only courier in Romford! The system on Vinted is really weird

Cyclingmummy1 · 14/05/2026 17:24

Similar with DPD last week. I had to cancel in the end as the 2 lockers I visited didn't have stickers for 3 days. I think it reloaded automatically then sold for full price 😆 but it's a right faff.

I had a Relay one too and also had to drive to a village two miles away! The buyer said they hadn't selected it so Lord only knows how that one crept in. It was a bit of a nightmare trying to get any tracking info from them.

ForTheTitle · 14/05/2026 17:35

I have started using EBay again, after a very long period away. In fact I was still copying out addresses when I last used it! 😆

Really impressed with the updated version. Just sold an item where I included the postage in the price. £25.00 all in, free listing.

£2.95 for a parcel, collected by RM, for free, from my house. Two day window for postage label. RM labelled the parcel on collection.

All a simple click if a button at the point of sale.

Yeah, this is NOT accurate. I packaged something which definitely fit through (I have the same device as the post office for checking this), and it got sent to the sorting office for insufficient postage.

You can't just choose whatever postage you like because you're a marketplace seller.

NOBODY listen to this, it is NOT TRUE.
