I wish I had an occasion to dress up for!

I‘n just posting for a moan really but it’s ages since I had a ‘do” to dress up for. No weddings ,parties etc and none in the offing either.

I think Im going to have to raise my game day to day dressing wise. I dont mean going about dressed to the nines, but taking more care with outfits rather than just jumpers and jeans everyday. Otherwise, I will never get to wear my better stuff!

I have a decent social life..I just miss special occasions!

I don’t save things for best. I wear them and enjoy them.

Do it!

Try going on a cruise - you can dress up every night. The first time I went on one I felt underdressed and wished I'd brought something glamorous and sparkly (and it wasn't even a 'posh' cruise).

Yes Im working up to this! Decided Im going to wear something different each day this week (i.e. something nice I havent worn for a while). I have two coffee catch ups, and a family lunch. Not in fancy places but I could still be fancy I suppose!

Same, I hardly ever go to weddings and so on. It’s not that I don’t have friends and acquaintances, it’s just none of them seem to do ‘celebrations’ - they’ve all just moved in with long term partners and had kids without really throwing celebrations to mark any of it. Christenings aren’t really a thing any more. We’re not yet 40 so no big birthdays in years either. The closest I get are work events and to it’s a bit sad as they’re not my friends as such.

Book tickets for something dressy! The races maybe, or ball/gala? Ballet/opera? I know not everybody dresses up for those but some people still do. There’s a lot of charity ones around here so for a good cause too. Or book a nice restaurant and just dress up. We very rarely get a childfree dinner date so when we do I wear my nice/formal dresses and enjoy it! Have only ever had compliments even though it sometimes means I’m a little overdressed

Just pretend you are going somewhere dressy....nobody needs to know that there isnt actually a destination!
