Can anyone recommend a good make up setting spray that doesn’t cost a fortune and is good for use in a hot climate. Thank you

I used the Makeup Forever mist and fix spray last year on holiday in Moroocco and my makeup didn't budge. I did use the rodial primer too though so don't know if it was a combination of the two. I would say it is not as fine a mist as some other setting sprays. My skin type is dry. Currently I am using the Milk setting spray and that is just ok I received it in an advent calendar and am trying to finish it off but I don't like it enough to repurchase.

I like the Charlotte Tilbury one but the Lacura one in Aldi is also quite good.

The L'Oreal one in the red can is incredible, my face doesn't move.

Mac spray fx are available in minis, love them!

The L'Oreal Infallible in the red can is amazing. It's like hairspray for your face, make up lasts all day. Think it's £8.

I second this! I much prefer it to others I have tried

Huckleberries · 09/05/2026 22:03

What's the feel of these sprays?

I really hate getting make-up on my coat collar in winter but looking at the ingredients they look like glue! Are people using them every day or for special occasions?

My favourite is Urban Decay All Nighter. If on an economy drive Elf Matte Magic. The former is chef’s kiss but the Elf is far cheaper and almost as good. (The UD one comes in a travel size if you wanted to try it.

They don’t feel like anything. I spray it on, it dries, my face feels completely normal. But my make up stays put. And yes, I use it everytime I wear make up.

The matte Studio London one is ok. Keeps my make-up on all day. There’s a mini version (usually in the holiday minis area) so cheap to try it out.

The best ones I’ve tried are Urban Decay All Nighter and the Huda Beauty one but they’re not cheap.

The iconic one is really light, you don’t feel like you have anything extra on. I used it on a cruise earlier this year in a very hot and humid climate and my make up didn’t budge. It also feels really nice as a primer.

Huckleberries · 10/05/2026 10:01

Im going to try one of these thanks

Also coming on to recommend this. It's amazing. My make up stays in place all day

Huckleberries · 10/05/2026 10:11

Actually, my make-up stays on all day without a spray

But it comes off on my coat collar in winter
I have a couple of funnel neck jackets and the make up transfers there so that's why I want a spray

I do find make up lasts until you take it off
You should be able to go swimming in it really

The Charlotte Tilbury one is still the best I've tried. The Mac one was terrible, did nothing whatsoever, the Lumene one isn't bad but not as good as CT, I currently have Urban Decay All Nighter Matte finish but it's not brilliant tbh. I'm using it up on work from home days but go back to CT if I'm actually leaving the house.

NB. I have oily skin that never needs 'illuminating' products as it makes plenty of its own illumination. If your skin is on the drier side then you might have more luck with some of these.
