Recommendations for skincare and matte make-up for VERY oily skin after stopping the pill

Hi, I’m 40 and stopped taking the pill a few months ago. I’ve been on it for years and it was really good for my skin… My skin has been so incredibly oily since I stopped taking it.

I’m using powder foundation at the moment and a matte SPF 50 primer called Biore watery essence. Literally 20 minutes after I have powdered my face it’s shiny and oily again. And worse than that, the make-up I have put on looks really cakey and patchy.

Can anybody recommend any specific skincare products and make-up to help with this? I’m looking for recommendations of both please.

I don’t like using “dewy” make-up at the best of time but particularly not now! I want matte matte matte, and if I can help things with skin care I will. I am using nip and fab glycolic acid face wipes in the evening which seems to be helping with pimples but not the relentless oiliness.

thanks!

Hi OP. Niacinamide is the most effective topical sebum regulator, use consistently morning/night so it makes a visible difference over weeks. Salicylic acid cleanser keeps pores clear without over-stripping. For makeup, try a silicone-based primer with film-forming polymers before a matte liquid foundation, then powder only on the T-zone. Blotting papers between touch-ups.

I use a vitamin c , Eucerin oil control spf, bare minerals powder foundation and set with Charlotte tilbury mattifying setting spray. This is the best combination I have found.
Will your doctor prescribe Spironolactone, it’s amazing for controlling oil?

Keep a pack of rizla papers (yes the ones you use to make roll ups)they are brilliant for blotting oil but leaving make up in place.I have the same issue as you do if I go off hormonal contraception
