Calling for inspiration!
I recently commenced a big job search as I'm approaching the completion of a PhD, hence I've been out of mainstream work other than some teaching.
I have an interview coming up for an academic coordinator at a university business school, along with a couple of others in the pipeline - and have realised that I am SO out of touch with what is trending and appropriate wear for the office (and especially an initial interview!) My wardrobe has become very, um... shall we 'studenty' and 'artsy' over the past couple of years, ha.
I am 5"2, generally slim but slightly curvy size 8-10 (big bum in comparison to waist, fairly broad shoulders). I've noticed how in shapes that work with my body shape, rather than against it, I feel much more confident. e.g. body con style dresses and close fitting suits tend to make me feel like a self-conscious, rectangular block!
I don't have big bucks to spend currently, but I would like to make a few good quality, smart mid-range buys that I genuinely feel confident wearing. I've seen some items in M&S and from Nobody's Child that I've liked the look of - any other suggestions online or high street welcome. Especially ones that cater well for petite women.
Oooh, any shoe recs welcome too!
The job states 'smart casual' for dress policy but I'd like to put a good amount of effort in 🙂
