As per the title, I’m just looking for inspiration and interested to see what people are buying.

The last thing I bought was a pair of board shorts, neither stylish or beautiful, but practical.

There was a recent thread about where to buy a slip to go under dresses, where someone mentioned Sandra Online and their British made satin lingerie.
Today my wine coloured French knickers arrived and when I tried them on I burst into that song from Grease with the line "get your filthy paws off my silky drawers" while cavorting about in front of the mirror.
The British made satin slip is lovely quality too.

@RedRiverShore6 I’m 5’8, I’m sure I’ve seen them on someone at work who is my height. Can’t be sure as I don’t know them well enough to ask.

Not satin but I wear slips under dresses. I keep meaning to look for some cotton ones for the summer.

In black. It looks less shapeless on me.

Two pairs of cotton trousers, one blue and one olive (different styles, the blue is more casual, the olive can be dressed up or down).

Two pairs of Nike trainers, in different colours and styles. My original plan was to keep the pair I liked best and return the others, but I'm not sure I like either pair so I might return both.

A button-down black cotton top with puff sleeves and a Peter Pan collar. I have a similar white top that I love and which came from a more expensive shop, so I snapped this one up when I saw it at half the price.

A blue and white striped button-down shirt with lace on the collar, a nice basic with a little extra interest because of the collar. It's more oversized than I expected and I can't return it, but I think it will work (and for once I'm actually hoping it will shrink a bit after washing).

A short black rain jacket. It's not hugely stylish, but I will be working abroad for 5 weeks starting later this month and I needed a rain jacket that wouldn't take up much room in my suitcase. This one folds into a little zippered pocket.

I went into town yesterday for the first time in ages and got a bit of a haul! 3 x layering vests from White Company, 4 sleeveless tops/blouses from River Island (popped in for a look after seeing a thread on here and was amazed I liked loads of things at 56!)
Then went to Boots where I discovered the clarins summer gift with purchase is on and got perfume plus some sun screen and the gift of a bag with 5 freebies 🎉
Also got a Lisa Eldridge lipstick
today I went to tk maxx and found some linen trousers, also got a sleeveless spotty dress from Seasalt. Haven’t bought so much for aaaages

Please do - I think!

I've just gone onto Vinted to get the link for the cushion seller that a PP asked for - the first thing that popped up was a painted silk Vince top in my size ... & before I knew it I'd bought it ... 😬

Over the past two weeks i've had a bit of a splurge in COS.
I bought barrel leg trousers
Wide leg indigo jeans
Denim shirt
Polka dot shirt
White shirred shirt

I've also bought pointed flats from me+em & hoff trainers

Marmalademorning · Yesterday 18:09

Well I ended up going shopping today and buying three more pairs of trousers. I bought a pair of smart white chinos and a cropped pair of light pink chinos from Crew Clothing company. They’re so comfy and have a bit of stretch in them. But I also got a pair of barrel jeans from M&S in a subtle blush colour and I absolutely LOVE them. I’ve never liked barrel jeans on me before. But these look good. I will try and include a pic

Vinted
First thing is you go to profile - personalisation.
Tell it there what sizes you want to see, and then start listing and ticking any brands that you want to see - I like some higher end high street, so I have Nobody's child, Wyse, Aligne, Tallulah and Hoe, Greek Archaic Kori, things like that. Just list as many as you can think of.
This doesn't stop other things coming up on your feed, but it does help.

Next step is to remember that Vinted is an algorithm - if you look for it, it will bring it up again. If you stop looking, it will stop. If you search a random thing- a kids dress- you will get flooded with kids dresses until you teach it youre not interested.

So start by picking a brand, or a style that you like. Pick one of the brands you've chosen, or boho, or vintage silk, or dopamine, whatever floats your boat and kind of fits your style.
It'll bring up a million things that use your keyword. Filter down to any sizes you might want to see- remember that some people might see a large label, but tick M/ 14 instead. Filter condition too.
Then favourite away. You want to just heart anything that's vaguely what you might like. If you see anything that's actually what you like, then engage with it- open the listing, open the more information button, take a few seconds reading, then favourite it before you move on. Remember that if there's anything you DONT want- scroll by quickly.

Once you've spent a few minutes doing that, come out of Vinted, and leave it for a little while. Then go in, try a different brand, and do it again. If you can do it for several brands, great.

Once you've done this a few times, you should see your feed starting to improve a little, so spend a bit of time scrolling through that, and open anything interesting- if you engage, it gives you more of the same. You should be able to clear your favourites of some of the stuff you've liked, and start favouriting what you might actually be interested in again.

It's as simple as that. Just remember- if you search for something, it keeps on giving you it. If you engage with it by looking, it gives you more. So look for the one kids dress that you want, then don't look again! And then spend some time going back to looking for what you want.

Also- at the top, there are tabs for women's, mens, etc- these still follow your feed, so use them and they'll stop you seeing the other categories.

At the minute my feed is filled with leather jackets and bags- which I keep getting distracted by! I need to do some searching for other things, but they pop back out of your brain if you need them.

Make sure you save your favourite searches, and try and check them if you open the app once every day or two, and you'll get them up on your feed as soon as they're listed.

Navy wide leg linen pants from Crew - my first pair,
and 2 pairs of linen tapered legs from Threadbare.
No idea what tops to put with them though as I am in my 60's and am feeling quite brave trying new styles!

They’ll go with loads. You could go for a plain vest with an open linen shirt for a more relaxed look. Or a stripy Breton top for a more fitted look. Dress them up with a belt, white t-shirt and a smart jacket. I bought some similar ones from Hobbs and they look great with this top I got from French Connection last year. I use an app called Indyx to plan my outfits Here are two ideas:

I just got these barrel leg thingies in a sale at a small independent shop near me, reduced from £145 to £40. They're heavy cotton so felt very unseasonable today, but they'll be useful from tomorrow when the temperature drops. Nice and voluminous!

Some Zoeva eyeliner pencils (double as eyeshadow) as kept seeing them advertised and recommended as an alternative to the Victoria Beckham ones which are really nice but double the price. Arrived today and I love them!

Some Glaize adhesive gel nail stickers, three sets in different colours as giving my nails a break from gel manicures for a few months. (Very bendy and split, am also taking Biotin and Collagen, any more tips welcome!)

Saint and Sofia black top and floral maxi skirt with tags still on from eBay.

I'm not quite sure?? But I do know that when people say they gets loads of bargains on Vinted for £5, I think "where"?!!! Nothing that costs £5 pops up for me!! But I don't really know how the Vinted algorithm works, tbh.

I have always used eBay to buy a large proportion of my clothing (plus sales, vintage & charity shops, & sometimes Etsy for vintage) for over 20 years - increasingly so as my interest in sustainability grew & my income dwindled (after going freelance)!!! I also sold quite a bit on eBay too.

Vinted, I'm relatively new to in comparison. I started out searching for many of the same saved searches that I have set up on eBay - lots from staple brands like Toast (dresses), Whistles (footwear & bags), Jigsaw (footwear, bags, coats, knitwear & separates), or M&S Autograph (knitwear, trousers), etc. Massimo Dutti, Zara, H&M, & Other Stories etc too, on the high street. Then there are other higher-end/designer brands that I browse for more generally - when I spot them in some Insta accounts I follow, or reading Vogue online, or when I read comments on S&B threads!!! So those pop up too - as does a lot of "proper" vintage stuff.

Two of those items I posted photos of were from saved searches on eBay (which is much better for that than Vinted), one a saved search on Vinted - & two (the Jaeger wool jacket & the Marina Rinaldi top) seemed to pop up randomly on Vinted. But Jaeger ( vintage & new at M&S) is a regular perusal for me, & Marina Rinaldi I've looked for secondhand since I put on weight!

Do you have saved searches or certain favourite good-quality brands that you especially like? And have you set up your preferred clothing & footwear sizes in Vinted, so that it tailors what it brings up to your size? (As best it can, of course, since the sizing groups changed ... 🙄)

Also, don't forget about eBay. What's available there has shrunk due to Vinted, but it's much easier to search & to save searches too.

Thank you for the lovely reply. I haven’t done any of those things so I will do that as soon as I can.

I have been using Vinted a lot and have a good balance built up for spending.

I love Cos, Arket, Varley and natural fibres. I do some searches, Vinted learns for a while then BANG back to endless Zara jackets and Alo stuff that’s clearly fake.

I will save some searches and sizes and go from there.

Another pair of these amazingly comfortable and great looking Pineapple Studios cargo joggers and these wine glasses from Next that I absolutely didn’t need, but liked them 🤣

@Marmalademorning Thanks for those suggestions. I particularly like the outfit on the left and I have got some striped tops, you make them sound so much nicer calling them Breton though. Is the neckline "squarer" in the Breton top?

My first pair of salt water sandals.

I got my first pair last summer, one of my favourite ever buys. They’ve walked miles and miles and been so comfortable!
