I'm not quite sure?? But I do know that when people say they gets loads of bargains on Vinted for £5, I think "where"?!!! Nothing that costs £5 pops up for me!! But I don't really know how the Vinted algorithm works, tbh.
I have always used eBay to buy a large proportion of my clothing (plus sales, vintage & charity shops, & sometimes Etsy for vintage) for over 20 years - increasingly so as my interest in sustainability grew & my income dwindled (after going freelance)!!! I also sold quite a bit on eBay too.
Vinted, I'm relatively new to in comparison. I started out searching for many of the same saved searches that I have set up on eBay - lots from staple brands like Toast (dresses), Whistles (footwear & bags), Jigsaw (footwear, bags, coats, knitwear & separates), or M&S Autograph (knitwear, trousers), etc. Massimo Dutti, Zara, H&M, & Other Stories etc too, on the high street. Then there are other higher-end/designer brands that I browse for more generally - when I spot them in some Insta accounts I follow, or reading Vogue online, or when I read comments on S&B threads!!! So those pop up too - as does a lot of "proper" vintage stuff.
Two of those items I posted photos of were from saved searches on eBay (which is much better for that than Vinted), one a saved search on Vinted - & two (the Jaeger wool jacket & the Marina Rinaldi top) seemed to pop up randomly on Vinted. But Jaeger ( vintage & new at M&S) is a regular perusal for me, & Marina Rinaldi I've looked for secondhand since I put on weight!
Do you have saved searches or certain favourite good-quality brands that you especially like? And have you set up your preferred clothing & footwear sizes in Vinted, so that it tailors what it brings up to your size? (As best it can, of course, since the sizing groups changed ... 🙄)
Also, don't forget about eBay. What's available there has shrunk due to Vinted, but it's much easier to search & to save searches too.
