As per the title, I’m just looking for inspiration and interested to see what people are buying.

The last thing I bought was a pair of board shorts, neither stylish or beautiful, but practical.

I decided at the age of 52 that my 'true style' was slightly boho. So I bought a flowing white linen top, a whole bunch of turquoise and silver stacker bracelets and some beaded earrings.

To my surprise I am getting compliments for the first time in my life!

I bought some Citizens of Humanity jeans, long sleeved t-shirts from Arket, and olive coloured twill barrel leg trousers from Damson Madder. Also that Chanel water-fresh tint face thing.

I also bought some in tan

Baaaa! Sheep here too.
I bought these ones:
Moshulu chunky sandals

Wore them on a mini break to Rome last weekend (25k steps per day) & they were comfy from the start. No breaking in required. Appreciate the mumsnet recommendation!

Great post!

I recently bought a few crossbody phone cases that double as mini shoulder purses:

Today, I'm wearing dark blue jeans, so I coordinated them with the slim blue case I picked up last week, it has a much thinner strap than my usual black one.

I also bought a gorgeous brown/grey/bronze case that looks good against white linen. Unfortunately the magnetic closure isn't very strong, and my phone has slipped out a couple of times when I've slung it over my shoulder. It's such a shame so I'm probably going to return it.

I suspect nobody else will like these, but I’ve been searching for comfy trainers that are more like shoes for years and finally found them… love them!

That’s absolutely gorgeous 😍What do people think about Anthropologie generally? I’ve always felt their homeware, while undoubtedly pretty, is basically IKEA at about three times the price. I can’t afford the clothes anyway, but they do have some eye catching stuff. Is the brand style over substance, or are the clothes better than the homeware?

I’ve just rediscovered Anthropologie…Its not normally a shop I’d visit (recollections of everything being wildly flouncy and over the top) but I’ve just picked up a few really nice classic items over the last month or so. I got the jacket originally posted, a denim skort, a ruched cotton tshirt and a lovely flowy silky blouse and didn’t pay full price on any of it. So far it’s all washed well and feels like good quality. I think it’s probably a bit like Boden in that they overprice everything and have quite frequent sales of 20% etc. The homeware isa bit too eclectic for me!

I covet your wardrobe.
The Toast dress and loafers are particularly lush, how maddening that they don’t fit

Thank you! I am ridiculously pleased with my bargain finds!

Have to stop myself wearing them ALL the time ... (is it just me that does this when they love a particular new outfit??!).

White linen midi skirt from Rouri

Peachy Den Deba top - I now have in burgundy and black

Nude pink merino wool cardigan from Soeur

Sixxta denim jacket

Citizens of Humanity Miro jeans in beige

Brown suede Alohas sandals

Oversized black shirt from The Frankie Shop

1950s skirt from Ebay.
1950s/early 60s tailored, hour glass shape jacket from local charity shop.
Uniqlo C culottes.

And 'Dressing the Queen' - Kate Strasdin on the unsung workers behind the wardrobes and ceremonial robes worn by the Queen / Queen Consort since Victoria's coronation - the weavers and shoe makers and embroiderers etc. It's the most interesting book I've read in ages.

3 pairs of barrel legged trousers from Primark. In 100% cotton so should be nice and cool for summer.

Hands up who else laughed at barrel legs when they first came out and is now a complete convert!!LOL😆

All from Vinted & eBay (I rarely buy new):

  • Toast green dress - this sold out, I got very lucky (as this was new & unworn), & am super pleased!
  • Vintage fine wool black Jaeger jacket - fab quality & a perfect spring weight. Very current looking.
  • M&S gingham skirt - I'd wanted it, but it sold out. Wearing lots!
  • Vintage Marina Rinaldi silk & lace tabard top - what a find! Amazing quality & a perfect evening top.
  • Vintage Russell & Bromley green loafers - my size but they're too tight ... I am broken-hearted ... 😢!!

How do you get your Vinted algorithm to be so good? Mine shows me absolute garbage!

FirstDayonthePlanet · Yesterday 14:17

Ive changed by 2 dress sizes since last summer so slowly building up a new spring/summer wardrobe.

cream crochet cardi - really like this might get another in navy
black frill sleeve blouse/top hybrid. Easy to wear but slightly elevated from a plain black top.
polka dot mesh top, primarily something to wear with jeans to the pub, but could also do for work.

all M&S, partially funded (£40) by selling my outgrown jeans colllection on Vinted.

How do you get your Vinted algorithm to be so good? Mine shows me absolute garbage!

I'm not quite sure?? But I do know that when people say they gets loads of bargains on Vinted for £5, I think "where"?!!! Nothing that costs £5 pops up for me!! But I don't really know how the Vinted algorithm works, tbh.

I have always used eBay to buy a large proportion of my clothing (plus sales, vintage & charity shops, & sometimes Etsy for vintage) for over 20 years - increasingly so as my interest in sustainability grew & my income dwindled (after going freelance)!!! I also sold quite a bit on eBay too.

Vinted, I'm relatively new to in comparison. I started out searching for many of the same saved searches that I have set up on eBay - lots from staple brands like Toast (dresses), Whistles (footwear & bags), Jigsaw (footwear, bags, coats, knitwear & separates), or M&S Autograph (knitwear, trousers), etc. Massimo Dutti, Zara, H&M, & Other Stories etc too, on the high street. Then there are other higher-end/designer brands that I browse for more generally - when I spot them in some Insta accounts I follow, or reading Vogue online, or when I read comments on S&B threads!!! So those pop up too - as does a lot of "proper" vintage stuff.

Two of those items I posted photos of were from saved searches on eBay (which is much better for that than Vinted), one a saved search on Vinted - & two (the Jaeger wool jacket & the Marina Rinaldi top) seemed to pop up randomly on Vinted. But Jaeger ( vintage & new at M&S) is a regular perusal for me, & Marina Rinaldi I've looked for secondhand since I put on weight!

Do you have saved searches or certain favourite good-quality brands that you especially like? And have you set up your preferred clothing & footwear sizes in Vinted, so that it tailors what it brings up to your size? (As best it can, of course, since the sizing groups changed ... 🙄)

Also, don't forget about eBay. What's available there has shrunk due to Vinted, but it's much easier to search & to save searches too.

Which sort of tops do you like? My go to for cheap on trend is Tu, Zara. Tu do great basic t shirts.

Thanks!
I’ve been wearing oversized shirts tucked into wide legged trousers but I’m ready for a change. I’ve just bought a couple of tops (tee shirt material) with a tie bow neck from Tesco as I popped in earlier. I got 2 colours as they are perfect

I haven't bought any clothes since the start of the year for me. I have purchased an Lv speedy 25 though. Im trying to make more considered purchases and think of the cost per wear and also how items would work with existing prices in my wardobe.

I'm in Scotland and where I am is particularly windy even though the weather has been warm recently so I've still been wearing light knits.

In terms of a summer wardrobe I do need tan sandals, chocolate brown sandals, perhaps some new flats in white, white wide leg linen trousers, a linen coord for travelling (airport), butter yellow and sage green shirt that I can layer over a vest top. I'd quite like a white skirt that is not see through but that is proving hard to find. Otherwise 2 or 3 dresses that could work for evening meals out would be good for on holiday. I also need some sunglasses. I'd like a denim jacket or mini trench.

Edited

White/pale skirts & trousers being too see-through drives me nuts! I actually don't mind a little bit of semi-transparency. What I really hate is when the pockets show through. And what I hate even more is half-linings!!! They look especially ridiculous in trousers, & cheap too (which of course it is for the manufacturer). I've never liked the recent-ish trend of lace skirts etc being deliberately half-lined - because to me it smacks of cost-savings, & I can't really get past that!

If you look for lined skirts, or cotton poplin which is often heavier, you might get lucky. It's the sort of thing that's hard to know when ordering online though.

You are a green fan, clearly?! Love those colours.

Btw, when is something called ‘vintage’ and not second-hand etc? I would love to know as I might own some vintage clothes as I am 55!

@PuppyMonkeyi like those trainers. I’m a recent lanx converse after getting my first pair of boots from them. Absolutely love them.

I don’t know if you’d like the style, but I have quite a few of the UNIQLO Maxis skirts and they are not see-through. They also come in tall and short lengths.

@PistachioTiramisu I am not sure about many of the shapes out there right now.

I'm a fan of Autograph at M&S quality generally and seem to buy quite a bit from there, I've got an order incoming which contains these, but they look very full so I'm not sure I expect to love them. Also ordered this because I thought it might look nice with the trousers and jeans.

I really liked those chinos but when I looked at them in M&S they were too short for me, I’m 5’10” so if you are average height they should look nice. Usually they do a length range but not with these
