Violette Plume lip stain - legit?

I’m being served ads for this product (£32 lip stain) and I’m tempted.

my natural lips seem to be the same colour as my face (aka very pale) and I look much better with a bit of subtle colour - I prefer MLbB rather than a striking colour.

I just don’t seem to remember to re-apply lip products during the day, and most products are gone after an hour.

Ive tried wonderskin, that blue lip stain, but it disappears and leaves me with a ring around my lips, which I don’t notice until I happen to see my reflection which could be hours later. It’s also not really suitable for applying on the go, with the peeling off of the blue layer.

I have tried so many ‘long lasting’ high street brands but they either disappear immediately or I end up with the bare lips with a ring of remaining colour.

currently I wear Nivea cherry tinted lip balm which is the right level of colour and can be applied without looking, but lasts about 15mins.

anyway this is a very long winded way of asking if anyone has tried this plume lip product, does it work, and is it a legitimate brand?

Ooh also seeing ads for this and curious

Holidaymodeon · 01/05/2026 10:31

I was very tempted a while back but most reviews at the time were awful, most cited it as very drying

Kaftanqween · 01/05/2026 10:48

Violette Fr is a legit brand. Now also sold at Liberty. I’ve not tried those lip plumes because I like something moisturising.

However, I can recommend the lip nectars which also leave a tint behind but are not drying. The darker ones obviously leave more of a stain.

Villanellesproudmum · 01/05/2026 10:50

Not tried that but the body shop ones last quite a while.

I've been on the hunt for a good lip stain for years and have yet to find one! Lately I've switched to tinted lip balm and can really recommend Korres tinted lip balm in rose, and the Burts Bees tinted lip balm in red dhalia. They're both super cheap on amazon and I find that because they're lip balms, I tend to reapply them often and don't need a mirror to do so. It also looks very natural and they work great as blush too!

I bought one of the Violette Bisou Balms when they first arrived at Liberty and while the colour is really good I almost never use it because it's so over-scented/flavoured -a very sweet vanilla flavour - not in a good way, so maybe have a sniff before you buy unless you love vanilla

I really like the Bisou Balms, it’s a legit brand but I’ve not tried the Lip Plumes. I’ve just ordered one of the new Plume eye shadows though.

I’m pale of lip too: haven’t tried the lip stains but I love the bisou balm. On the cheaper end of the spectrum I love the Collection lip stains: I think the one I use is called poppy, need lip balm too, but I’d say it fades nicely rather than leaving a ring

Hi I bought this in a shop near Spitalfields market. I love a lip stain and buy them all. I took a plum type colour. It’s ok, really just ok. I found lip liner lasts longer. It’s maybe on a par with wonderskin but does look very nice when it’s on, no massive staying power or stain to the lip. It’s been put in a drawer, I’d forgotten I’d bought it.

I will be purchasing the collection ones tomorrow 😉

Thanks everyone, some useful feedback.

I think I’ll give Collection lip stains a try then first.

I’ve noted the comments about tinted lip balms, but that’s what I use already, and whilst very easy to reapply I really do just forget much of the time.
something that might stay on until lunch, and fades evenly would be a win, so the Collection recommendation is worth a try.

I use Maybeline and they last all day long, a tad drying so i also use, the fabulous o'keefs lip balm.

Thanks everyone, some useful feedback.

i think I’ll give the Collection lip stain recommendation a go first - since I’m assuming it is a bit cheaper!

Ive noted the comments about tinted lip balms, which is what I currently use, and whilst they are easy to reapply frequently, I really do just forget.

if I can find something that lasts until lunchtime and fades evenly that would be a win, so fingers crossed for Collection.
