Is this velvet dress too wintery for a May party?

I’m after opinions please. I’m posting a pic of a dress I have in my wardrobe. I’m going to a 50th birthday party on Saturday. Nothing else I currently own or have ordered to try looks good or makes me feel nice. My question is, do you think a velvet dress is too wintery looking for May? That’s it. That’s my dilemma. Help! Am I overthinking this? 🤣

Did you wear it @MrsDuskTilldawn ? I hope you did and I hope you had a great time!

The party was amazing, thank you! Ended up wearing black trousers and a lovely top with nude shoes/bag. I’d been dead set on wearing a dress but it was pouring down buckets and quite chilly so went with trousers after all that! 🤣

Gorgeous. I think the fabric and colour are more winter. It may be possible to accessorize it for a more spring feel. But it is such a lovely dress it shouldn’t need much. Glad the party was great. Hope you got the dress anyway.
