Wedding dresses- where to go?

First time bride - will be almost 47 at our October wedding. Have no idea what to wear. Any recommendations for somewhere in the Midlands to try on a variety of different dresses as I have literally no idea what will suit me.

You could try going to a few bridal shops locally to get an idea of styles etc. Many high street retailers also sell wedding and wedding type dresses. Do you know what length, style, colour you want?

There is also vinted and some charity shops have specific bridal stores. I found my dress at a bridal shop but ended up buying it from ebay. The bride had always planned to re-sell it, so no alterations had been made. I know some people are funny about a 2nd hand dress, but it was 1/3 the cost of the brand new one. DH and I have been together 24yrs and married for 15, so I don't believe there is anything superstitious about it.

@7238SM thank you. No idea on style etc never thought about my wedding dress. Only two things I think are full length and maybe sleeves. Absolutely no veil. Definitely buying second hand - trying to be environmentally conscious but that does limit the trying on options. Feel a bit underhand going to a bridal shop to try on knowing I won't buy from there- the charity wedding dress shop is a good shout as there's a chance I will.
