If I don’t want a wrap/tie dressing gown, what do I want?

I don’t like the usual sort of dressing gown that keeps coming undone and makes me look like a sack of potatoes wrapped round the middle. I have a thickish zip front one I love for cooler weather but I need something for summer. Has anyone seen anything around?

I’ve got a zip up dressing gown. It’s fabulous.

Thank you for the suggestions so far. I love my zip up winter one but can’t find a nice summer one.

I took the belt off mine and use a glamorous, diamanté studded large safety pin. 😀

I did extensive research on this a while ago and pelagra’s one was the one that came out on top. It’s perfect

I buy cheap silky/cotton wrap DGs and sew a few big fasteners on them. That works for around the house on a warm morning. I obviously buy a tiny size (so the edges meet!), which also gives me great pleasure, since I am not a small size at all!

This is a great idea and I might do this to my current one that gets right on my nerves undoing itself. What sort of fasteners do you use?

Large metal snap fasteners, but you have to sew them in securely and make sure they meet properly or you'll have a wonky housecoat!

Take the belt off, loop it through the front two loops (so it doesn’t go round your back at all) then tie at the front. Sure I heard about this on a thread a few years ago. Life changing. Don’t feel or look like a sack of spuds and it doesn’t come undone

@pelagra it’s arrived. The grey is a greeny sort of grey which I like. I’m a size 12/14 so ordered the 14/16 and it is rather generous, but better that than too tight. Obviously I haven’t worn it yet but so far seems to fit the bill

That's encouraging. I ordered the same size, but I'm definitely a 16, though losing weight. Hope it will be big enough.
