Are plain black canvas like trainers ok or do they have to be leather shoes?

You have to be able to clean them with a wet cloth/water. Leather or fake leather not canvas as your feet need yo be protected from substances. There is a dress code. Check that with your manager.

Washable leather/pleather. So they can be cleaned in soapy water or with Clinell wipes. And to protect your feet from getting soaked with icky things 🤢

I wear Skechers with memory foam insoles.

Thank you for the replies-just planning in advance. Lots of the Sketchers seem to be more canvas, so it’s only the specific leather/fake leather ones that would be allowed? What about leather clog type shoes (Birkenstocks?) -I presume as they are backless, they might not be allowed?

Skechers Uno trainers would be OK as they're definitely washable and not canvas.

Is that the criteria-washable? Are normal black trainers with mesh/canvas not washable then, I presume?

They have to have back straps.

It depends on the role. Best to check with your manager.

You'd be best to check your uniform policy or ask someone in your team.

I've got these ones but they were a lot cheaper on Amazon!
