Veiny hands and arms

My hands and arms look like some kind of anatomical diagram and I hate them! Now that the weather is warming up ever so slightly, I've started looking around for shorter sleeved tops, but when I try them on all I can see is bulging veins (my upper arms are just as bad) and I don't really want them on display as I find them so ugly. Is there anything I can do to minimise them?

Same here. The trick is to get in the gym, on the protein and build the muscles to match. You’ll be the envy of the gym bros!

And donate blood, volunteer to have the trainee.

(I don’t think there’s much you can do except embrace it)

Are they less obvious if you gain weight?

ForbiddenPear · 20/04/2026 01:31

My sister gets this when she is dehydrated and dieting. She doesn’t drink or eat anywhere near the amount she should per day and what she does eat is too salty.

That’s terrifying!
If it’s purely cosmetic and not due to a medical condition you could try gaining weight as others have suggested.
Are they less corpse like when you have a tan? I think being so pale doesn’t help

My hands are like this, and phlebotomists love me, but I'm not that easy to bleed as my veins are bouncy and easy to miss!

ANagsHead · 20/04/2026 07:54

Your hands are beautiful.

I hope you know lots of artists who can use you as a life model?

travailtotravel · 20/04/2026 07:57

Are ypu properly hydrated? When my hands look like that I know I need to drink .....

I mean, I guess thanks for your honesty, but you could have found politer language than "terrifying" and "corpse-like" to make the same point. And I had really hoped that in the 21st century we would have got past thinking that a tan looks "healthy".

Anyway, point taken about hydration. I do probably need to drink more but even when I'm bursting with fluid my veins are still pretty prominent. I think I'll just keep them covered so as not to frighen anyone!

I am underweight but I'm not in a place to think about weight gain right now so long sleeves it is.

I agree with another poster, your arms are amazing, artists would love you, get them out and seen, your lean limbs are far more natural than my flabby ones.

Same here, they wiggle around!

I am the older version of you OP 😄, it’s a combination of exercise and also genetic, my DM was exactly the same.

I am slim but BMI 19 so normal range and am veiny. A phlebotomist’s dream! I don’t care and don’t try and hide them 🤷🏼‍♀️

Those are ridiculous adjectives. Very rude and incorrect. Not remotely ‘terrifying’!

stapletonsguitar · 20/04/2026 16:38

I’ve also got veiny hands but I’m definitely not underweight 😬. My grandmother also had them so I assume it must be genetic. They really age me though.

I agree, very mean wording! Take no notice
