Need a jacket

I feel like I've looked at every jacket that exists... I'm looking for a coat or a lightweight jacket, good for spring weather or a chilly summer day. Thinking for just wearing over cardigan and jeans, something casual but not walking the dog attire.

Currently I have a thick puffer coat and a smart work coat with nothing in between.
So many of them just seem box shaped which does not suit me at all

I'm living in the M and S car Mac at the moment and pretending I'm Carolyn Besset.

Uniqlo have some good options in at the minute. Just had a jersey jacket delivered in fhe style of a denim jacket but slightly more versatile as you could wear in with jeans. Lots of other options look decent too

I like the cropped trenches about at the moment but they can look boxy, could you perhaps try a belted one like this Stradivarius one?

Following with interest as I’m in the same boat. I love the idea of a trench but feel too dressed up in one.

This is lovely from Zara, so much nicer in real life, comes in 4 colours and the shaped hem stops it looking boxy, size down though I ended up with a small (unheard of in Zara!) and it’s still quite roomy.
I also like this Phase Eight real suede jacket, just not sure with all our rain if it would be practical - 20% off at the moment though

I bought the short M&S trench and I’ve worn it a huge amount already. It looks fantastic with jeans/trousers and dresses up my outfit without being dressy.

Could be an option...

I was about to suggest this! I bought it a couple weeks ago and it looks really good with jeans and trousers.

I love this Whistles jacket. 100% cotton, some great colours, a shape to it but also a soft relaxed feel. Some of the colours are at sale prices right now too. They've got a few other good jackets IMHO.
