Camilla's Gala dress was my least favourite so far. I think something brighter would have been better.

It was a bloody odd fabric more suited to a sofa, cushions in footballer wives land.

It's strange that the Swedish monarchy obtained the cache of fantastic jewels after a non-aristocrat was chosen as King (in rather opaque circumstances). The son of a country lawyer, and revolutionary who rose to become a General of the French Republic was given the throne and bought a load of fabulous jewels that the Swedish royals wear quite unapologetically!

So true. The first set was purchased with funds provided by Napoleon for Field Marshal Bernadotte to buy jewels for his wife Desiree to wear at his coronation. These ultimately found their way to Denmark, but the Bernadottes acquired a larger cache after they came to the throne.

I know it wasn't a style photo but I did like the photo of William, Catherine and children all relaxed together that was released yesterday. To me it just showed a royal marriage and family that have made it work. They all look happy and the kids look confident and secure. There is no better start in life for any child.

Read the other week George starts boarding school in September. Don't know which one. Lord he's growing up.

I'm not a gambling woman, but my bet would be on weekly boarding at Eton because it's nearby. I read somewhere that Marlborough would present far more security challenges - although as it's co-ed it would mean all three could attend.

Mind you, they've chosen unexpected schools so far - nobody tipped either Thomas's or Lambrook before the children went there.

Because Louis is 5 school years behind George, after this term the children will never all be at school together because by the time Louis is 13, George will be 18 and starting his gap year or off to university. There is nothing to stop Charlotte attending an all girls school if that is considered the best fit for her.

I expect they are waiting until everyone has had to accept their places before they announce. They don't want a load of people switching in the hopes of Royal connections.

I Eton also presents security challenges - I think students walk through town between lessons and IIRC the grounds at Eton are open to the public and used by walkers etc.

Pallisers · 30/04/2026 15:41

@SqueakyDinosaur I so wish I had known that before we went to Copenhagen a few years ago! I'll have to go back.

I am wondering if they are planning to announce it on George's 13th Birthday at the end of July. After term has ended so if curious people start investigating the website and crash it, there won't be as much disruption to school life!!

chesterelly1 · 30/04/2026 16:46

I think Baby Ines is a little bit of all of us in that picture - “ooh shiny jewels, I will just look at them, well maybe a little touch… give me the bling!”

BasiliskStare · 30/04/2026 16:50

I've heard Oundle for the children's school. However , I have no inside track so that is rumour. There are some ways in which it would make sense though so maybe that's why it's touted.

Maireas · 30/04/2026 16:54

Charlene looks ok- the suit is better in the movement pictures, rather than straight on. The trousers are better for being a slim cut.
That's a bright colour on Leti, but she can carry it off.
The less said about Albert's jacket, the better

Some photos from Stockholm. Sofia's taken guidance from Melania on hats but her dress is pretty. Madeleine looks lovely, as always, but navy seems a bit wintry for this time of year. CPV and Estelle are both in Self-Portrait but I prefer this style of dress to the one we've seen many times before.

Shame Camilla did not choose an evening gown for the Kings trust dinner.

Charles is in a normal suit and tie so a gown would have looked out of place with him.

I actually really like the dress but seems I’m in the minority!

Maireas · 30/04/2026 17:24

I don't like Sofia's hat, very Melania with a touch of Liam Gallagher. The blue dress is a lovely colour though.
Estelle looks nice, the trim is just enough without being too fussy. I like CPV's outfit.
My sister lives in Stockholm and tells me that it's a lovely mild sunny day ☀️

Sofia’s dress is nice and I like the colour of it and of the hat. The hat looks as though she has picked up one belonging to someone with a head two sizes bigger than hers, however 😬

Mary looks very elegant. CPV cutting a dash in uniform.

Court Jeweller: Tiaras for the King

Maireas · 30/04/2026 22:43

Queen Silvia's tiara is absolutely stupendous. Plus the earrings! She looks great in that strong red as well.
Some beautiful jewellery, interesting history behind some of it as well.

OP posts:
Lunde · 30/04/2026 23:48

Silvia - truly bringing the bling! I'd be scared to lean forward in that tiara.

Love CPV and Estelle's outfits and really like CPV's tiara.

Not sure about Sofia - isn't ombre a bit passe these days.

Also - rarely - I don't like Madeleine's gown as I think the colour (is it a beige pink?) doesn't really suit her colouring and makes her look washed out.
