I loved Camilla's navy outfit for the 911 memorial - although the choice of Britannia for her brooch was interesting.

I think Kate should go back to some of those trouser suits she wore a few years ago - I really liked the ones in purple and burgundy

Shame Camilla did not choose an evening gown for the Kings trust dinner.

I like the rule Brittania brooch.

Kate has some good trouser suits, I agree, @Lunde . I liked the burgundy one, and there was a VB chartreuse suit, which was great. Easy dressing as well.

I agree. It almost seemed like everyone else had been given a different dress code.

BasiliskStare · 30/04/2026 10:45

Camilla's Gala dress was my least favourite so far. I think something brighter would have been better.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 30/04/2026 11:08

There's going to be a shindig in Stockholm tonight to celebrate the king's 80th birthday so hopefully we will see some good bling!

chesterelly1 · 30/04/2026 11:20

The gala dress is a bit meh after everything else. Even if she didn’t want to go full evening something like Anna Wintour was wearing, bright, swishy lux fabric would have been a vast improvement (sorry it’s not liking my attempt to link)

The Bernadottes do good bling 👍

They are having the parade.

Baby Ines makes a balcony appearance and decides to play with Queen Silvia's earrings, which Princess Estelle find hilarious ... but ends up holding the baby!

In the absolute shallowest way possible, I wish our RF were closer to their Scandi and Low Countries counterparts, largely because they seem to do a lot more tiara-wearing than ours.

Goddamn it, I NEED to see the Vladmir Tiara getting an outing! It's been YEARS!

Maireas · 30/04/2026 13:28

Tell me about it, @SqueakyDinosaur . I feel like going to the vaults, getting all the stuff out and saying "wear it!".

OP posts:
SqueakyDinosaur · 30/04/2026 13:33

GOD yes!! It would be funny to have a pitchfork-wielding mob of middle-aged women marching on the Palace demanding that ALL THE BLING gets regular outings!

I am slightly obsessed with the Vladimir. Partly history, of course, but it is just such a perfect, beautiful object, in any of its three variations.

eggandonion · 30/04/2026 13:38

They could at least lend it to deserving people. My daughter would have happily borrowed a tiara on her wedding day. Even rent them would be good.

BasiliskStare · 30/04/2026 13:56

Yes - a sort of tiara outreach scheme.

Have they ever been put on display. I imagine the logistics would be scary.

Maireas · 30/04/2026 14:16

Yes, that should get worn again!

This is one of my favourite pics of QEII, wearing it - kind of absurd but magnificent at the same time.

It's a Julian Calder portrait from 2003. She's wearing the robes of the Order of the Thistle.

That's a great portrait.

RomainingCalm · 30/04/2026 14:33

I love that portrait @SqueakyDinosaur I seem to recall that there was something in Angela Kelly's book about the logistics of taking it - not least the possibility that those robes might get soaked given the Scottish weather.

And yes, there must be a way to release some of these wonderful tiaras and bling. Happy to sign up as a member of the middle-aged pitchfork mob!

ForWittyCoralPoet · 30/04/2026 14:44

I know it wasn't a style photo but I did like the photo of William, Catherine and children all relaxed together that was released yesterday. To me it just showed a royal marriage and family that have made it work. They all look happy and the kids look confident and secure. There is no better start in life for any child.

eggandonion · 30/04/2026 14:48

I would like to see the way they are stored. Im worried the popular ones are at the front and others have moved to the back. There must be some jewellery which was considered old fashioned waiting for an outing.

It's strange that the Swedish monarchy obtained the cache of fantastic jewels after a non-aristocrat was chosen as King (in rather opaque circumstances). The son of a country lawyer, and revolutionary who rose to become a General of the French Republic was given the throne and bought a load of fabulous jewels that the Swedish royals wear quite unapologetically!

SqueakyDinosaur · 30/04/2026 15:00

I also wish our RF would do what the Danish RF do - the royal jewellery collection is on permanent display - well, what they call the crown jewels, which I guess is the kind of working wardrobe of jewels, or maybe the equivalent of what in the RF is designated as "heirlooms of the Crown".
