Do comfortable bras actually exist?

ShoopShoopBaDoop · 15/04/2026 20:30

I'm small chested so I don't actually need a very uplifting bra but I'm finding now I'm over 50 I do need a bit of ompf.

However, I have never found a bra that I find comfortable at all. I despise wires in bras and I don't like thin waist bands either as they feel scratchy and uncomfortable.

I often wear comfort bras as they do instead feel more comfortable but they don't give a nice shape and I feel I end up with a squashed chest and a mono-boob look, I want shape under my clothes especially with summer coming up.

Any suggestions for a comfortable yet uplifting bra which gives shape and one that I can wear all day without that gnawing desire to rip it off as soon as I get home?

I find them fine for that. I took a punt on a medium and I just have everything on the tightest setting.

Thanks so much. I'm a 34GG so I think I'm a large

I'm a similar size, can't cope with wires anymore and am sick of having red marks on my shoulders from the straps

V interested in these jelly bras, but do they actually give you proper shape and lift?

There shouldn’t actually be much support coming via the shoulder straps so they can afford to be looser than many people realise. The support should come from the band and most people wear too big a band so it doesn’t support properly.

Thanks to this thread I have just ordered a jelly bra.

I wear Triumph bras, the amourette comes in wired and underwired and I also like their 'true shape sensation', this one starts at a C cup.

I went for a fitting years ago and they fitted me with an amourette and I have never looked at anything else. I find them really comfortable.

Same re Triumph Amourette.

Half the battle with bras is making sure you are wearing the right size.

O have completely converted to Molke now though.

They’re useless if you have a smaller back and big cup and also add inches to the back if you go off their measuring

I’m voting for jelly bras. Life changer. I’ve thrown out all my wired bras now. I was buying the pricey ones at first but I thought I’d give the SHEIN ones a go and they are identical. I’m a 32DD so do actually require a bit of support and they are brilliant

One of the reviews on the JL site says they don't wash well - have you found that ?

Thanks!

I’ve washed it around 3 times so far and seems fine.
Also thought should mention that I’m usually around a 34C and I went for the Large.

ForCosyLion · 18/04/2026 01:44

I have found Fantaisie bras very supportive and comfortable, after being measured properly. Previously, I had been wearing a 34B but from being fitted properly, it turned out I was a 32D.

Once you find a quality bra that's been well-fitted, it's a revelation. You find out that underwires are not uncomfortable at all, but a partner in support and comfort!

To me, a bra without underwire just isn't a bra. I haven't tried jelly bras, but I seriously doubt they could compete with a professionally-fitted Fantaisie or similar.

I think the “properly fitting” thing is more complicated than a lot of people are implying. I know my correct size, but some brands run big or small or the wires are slightly different shapes, so it’s as much finding a brand you can rely on to deliver your correct fit in my experience.

I am a 34FF and I find it very hard to find bras that are comfortable and supportive. I have started to buy nursing bras with “flexi-wire” - they have an underwire which is made of slightly flexible plastic rather than an unforgiving metal wire, and although I’m no longer nursing, I find these so comfortable and they come in supportive but pretty designs so that’s how I’ve been solving the problem!

I’m tempted by these but not sure on what size as I feel I’m maybe at the boundary between 2. Don’t want to buy one too big but also don’t want to get the smaller and find it’s uncomfortable. (I would buy both sizes but I’m terrible at sending things back unless it’s as easy as Next used to be when I had a delivery pass!)

Just wanted to say that I bought two conturve bras last week. They are actually really comfy but I don’t think they’re a perfect fit so I requested to return them. Anyway, they emailed me to say they’d processed it and refunded me (minus £5 admin fees) but that I don’t have to return them! I was going to try selling them on vinted but I’ve decided to keep them. They’re not perfect fit but will do as “hanging around at home” bras!

After weight loss I have really little flat boobs. I love them. I wear Stripe and Stare bras. There is almost no support in them but they are pretty and I don't care at all about lifting my boobs or anything like that so they work for me. No underwires. I like the bralettes best

Gettingbysomehow · 18/04/2026 15:36

All my underwired support bras are comfortable. Are you sure you are wearing the right size?

Mojo70 · 18/04/2026 19:16

I have been trying since forever to find a comfortable bra and did ask on here too, I have big boobs though so a slightly different scenario I have finally got one I like which is from Miss Mary from Sweden it's expensive but I haven't worn any other since I brought and brought another. It's non wired but had a innner support, I've never seen another like it

TrtseHkpr · 18/04/2026 20:55

Shapermint are really comfy and no wires. Available on Amazon too

Jelly bras!! Omg they are so comfy and look great! No wires and big straps. Heavenly.

Agree!

Lottapianos · 26/04/2026 11:55

Update - I ordered a jelly bra from Celeste in the size they recommended for me. Total disaster - doesn't fit in the cups or the back, not even close. There seems to be virtually no support or structure to the bra.

I've been emailing them to arrange a return and refund, and it's not been an easy process to put it mildly! They keep telling me that I CAN have a refund, but also trying to convince me to try a different style of bra. I'm on my 4th round of back and forth 🙄 and they want £6.95 to cover the return costs! So please do approach with caution......

RampantIvy · 26/04/2026 13:52

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive 🙁

Ilikeanimalsmorethanpeople · 26/04/2026 18:14

Oh thats a shame!! Hopefully they refund you, i doubt you'd want to try again but the ones I linked are fab! So annoying for you though.
