Do comfortable bras actually exist?

ShoopShoopBaDoop · 15/04/2026 20:30

I'm small chested so I don't actually need a very uplifting bra but I'm finding now I'm over 50 I do need a bit of ompf.

However, I have never found a bra that I find comfortable at all. I despise wires in bras and I don't like thin waist bands either as they feel scratchy and uncomfortable.

I often wear comfort bras as they do instead feel more comfortable but they don't give a nice shape and I feel I end up with a squashed chest and a mono-boob look, I want shape under my clothes especially with summer coming up.

Any suggestions for a comfortable yet uplifting bra which gives shape and one that I can wear all day without that gnawing desire to rip it off as soon as I get home?

I work from home and onky wear a bra if I go out or shopping! Despite being 38E I find them very uncomfortable.

Honeylove bras are wonderfully comfortable and they look quite good too, especially the crossover one.

Flowerlovinglady · 16/04/2026 08:01

Miss Mary of Sweden do quite comfy bras.

I can’t stand bras. I’m a 36GG and just hate all of them. I just wear non wired crop tops etc. In my younger years I’d wear bras because I worked in offices and couldn’t get away with not wearing one but I’ve never found them comfortable.

A lot of the recommendations here are maybe best for the higher-cup sized, which OP is not.

As a 34B I like Uniqlo's 3D bras - moulded but not underwired. It's not stretchy like a sports bra but it's somewhat comfortable (as comfortable as these accursed garments ever get)

I have been converted from uncomfortable wired bras to sports bras. They are not particularly stylish, but they make up for that in terms of comfort and suspension for those of us with bigger bosoms and active lifestyles! They also don't have pesky wires that choose to pop out at the most inconvenient moments, like when you're at work...

I'm quite well endowed. Probably 34F currently though have been larger. I absolutely love Triumph Doreen bras. So comfortable and no worries about bits popping out.

Winederlust · 16/04/2026 08:52

I a firm believer that it's all about getting the right size and style to be honest.
But I've heard good things about lemonade dolls. They do a non-wired push up bra.

I am not very curvy and really like Shapermint. I don't even need support but they give a lovely shape.

I’m also small chested and usually despise wearing wired bras, however I’ve recently discovered the Rosie demi cup bras from M&S and I love them! They fit so nicely and look good under everything I’ve tried with so far.

I'm similar size to you. I have always worn Calvin Klein wired bras. I have never found them uncomfortable at all. Didn't really know bras could be uncomfortable until I read posts about it on mumsnet.

I have a larger chest too and all sports bras in my size (Freya, Panache etc) are underwired and fairly well-padded - and not especially comfortable for all day wear given they're designed to hold everything in place! Which one do you wear?

Bravissimo and Marks and Spencer’s have sports bras in larger sizes that are non wired. I have one from Freya in my drawer.

Ah - M&S don't do my cup size so not really an option. Which is annoying as they're fairly accessible!

Neither did I. The wires on my underworld bras don't pop out either. I don't buy very expensive bras. Most of them are from M and S.

Feelingworried26 · 16/04/2026 10:59

A comfortable bra is one which fits your body shape and size and gives as much support as the weight of your breasts needs. Keep looking. No such thing as a non-specific 'comfort bra'.

HeyMay · 16/04/2026 11:14

I hate wires too, but these are great! I can't feel the wire when I'm wearing it.

I am also small chested (technically 32E but 36C is perfect for me as I don't need support and hate tight backs) and I forget I'm wearing this bra. When I take it off I don't go "ahhh" as it doesn't feel different to no bra iyswim. It also gives me amazing shape and uplift.

I bought some from Conturve and they're delightfully comfy.

I’m tempted by these but not sure on what size as I feel I’m maybe at the boundary between 2. Don’t want to buy one too big but also don’t want to get the smaller and find it’s uncomfortable. (I would buy both sizes but I’m terrible at sending things back unless it’s as easy as Next used to be when I had a delivery pass!)

M&S new body invisibles crop top (knock off of Skims)?

@domenica1

are these any good?

EveryDayisFriday · 16/04/2026 15:51

I'm huge fan of vest tops with built in padded bra shelf, I live in them most days, easy to wear under most things. There's a bit of a mono boob, but you get that with vest tops anyway.

The ones I have are from M&S. I also have some cheap jelly bras which are really comfy if I'm wearing a tshirt or a dress.

If the bra is the correct fit, they're very comfy. I couldn't believe the difference when I got a well-fitted one. (I have always worn underwired bras. They give far better support. I don't like jiggling.)

I have a mixture, usually just from M&S or (I think) ASDA, so nothing flashy, but they uphold my heaving bosoms, and hold me in, for sheep shearing and general farm wear.
