Where would you recommend.
I like oversized modern styles and don’t have time to physically shop.

My friend recently bought from Glasses Direct.

I got some from firmoo and they are brilliant, i paid around £35 all in, they took ages to come around a month but well worth it

Are cheap glasses going to last?
Love the idea of them, but concerned they’ll break.

Also worried about not trying them on. It’s doing my head in if I’m honest

Following because I can’t get this right either, bought a pair off firmoo and when they arrived they looked awful on me, I’d got the style completely wrong

With glasses online , you need to be sure the prescription is up to date , no opportunity to check eye health , pressures etc and the fit will be standard which is why instore they can be adjusted to fit your head shape , make sure they comfortable and any issues can be resolved . I’ve had very cheap ones online but much prefer going in and getting a full service . I’ve seen lots of nice looking glasses from Firmoo but never bought any

I did order online a few years ago and tho fine initially ended up being very uncomfy and ended up going back to specsavers and buying another pair. I have got a very small head tho so could have had something to do with it 😉

For something as important as eye health you really need to go into a physical opticians store. Choosing glasses can be tricky!

Thought I got a good deal on Pretavoir chanel frames & lenses. Then the L in Chanel print rubbed off... I contacted the site & they admitted there was an issue with the frames - offered to replace the frame.
Received the replaced frame & for no real reason I can understand, my vision out of one of the lenses has gone askew. Now they are virtually unwearable.

With a varifocal prescription I personally wouldn't chance getting the measurements right. And Getting the fit adjusted as many times as I need is something I really value. DH has a new basic distance prescription and got some online, took a few attempts to get ones that looked half decent and fitted reasonably well. I don't rate the quality either.

Did pret a voir- all legit

my mate (manufactures lenses) said they buy up end of ranges from opticians hence cheap.

Why? ive always bought glasses online, you upload your prescription (it has to be within 2 years of last test) and put in your PD measurement and they've always been perfect. Ive bought some gorgeous glasses from Pret a voir

Muchtoomuchtodo · 14/04/2026 07:42

Not online but I use Asda opticians. If you have one close I highly recommend them. They’re extremely quick and efficient. Prices are amazing and there’s a good range of styles.

i know it’s not what you asked but it could well save you time and money in the long run.

I’m thinking it’s a bit like buying a swimming costume!
