Chin spots in perimenopause

I am hoping the Mumsnet collective can help!

I have always had dry skin but for the last few months I have developed horrible looking spots on and around my chin - I think it is related to perimenopause (I am 45 and on HRT).

is there anything anyone can suggest? I have always had clear skin but this is making me feel like shit - the spots are visible when I wear make up due to their size.

I’ve had the same. I chat gpt’d it and it recommended salicylic face wash, acnecide gel and nicinamide along with a good moisturiser.
I’ve found they have worked on the spots - it hasn’t completely prevented them.
I was hoping HRT might stop them as I haven’t started it yet.
I hope you find something that works OP.

Finacea, 15% azelic acid. It’s prescription only, I get it via boots online….you have to send a photo of your face and they prescribe it.

I had those and found a skin and me monthly subscription cream completely cleared them, my prescription includes tretinoin for fine lines, salicylic acid and nicinamide

Thanks @JulietteHasAGun and @Thatsanotherfinemess1- I am willing to try anything. I feel so unattractive.

if you want to try skin and me I can send you a referral code by pm. That's how I started to use them, after a recommendation on here. I've found it so good that I've kept it up and have had the ingredients changed a couple of times as my melasma and chin spots cleared up and I wanted to focus on wrinkle reduction

I used nivea derma skin clear toner (very cheap, containing salycylic acid) last thing at night or sali hughes 5 acid daily exfoliant. You need to use sunscreen the next day. (i like Biore watery essence) .

I also used a salicylic wash also. Strangely, having always had good success before with freederm, it wasnt working for me. I bought an inkey list succinic acid cream for the awful spots, (cyst like) This did a great job of clearing them quite quickly, but it smells sulfurous, and the daily toner then kept them at bay. That was last year and im able to keep them away now just using neutrogena salicylic face scrub (its gentle)

You also need to think about anything else you’re already putting on your face and making sure it isn’t aggravating your skin. There’s a lot of products with crap in which flare people up/clog pores up. I find Korean skin care generally very good.
