Recommendations for comfortable holiday sandals

Hi, I'm sick of going on holiday and getting sore feet, flip flops cut inside my toes and sliders/sandals rub the side of my feet. Can anyone recommend comfortable sandals that still look nice if I was going out at night for dinner. Thanks.

If you can wear flat shoes Saltwater sandals are the most comfy and nice looking sandals ive ever owned. Waterproof and last forever.

I got some plain Tevas, similar to these. They are so comfortable and tidy enough for restaurants

I have these Whistles sandals in several colours & they are extremely comfy. The Velcro on the back strap means they can be adjusted to fit perfectly, & there's no rubbing. Only on eBay/Vinted though. Avoid the metallic ones they have in stock currently - they're very uncomfy!!

Can’t beat Birkenstocks. Pretty much wear nothing else. One pair last about 5 summers

letshavetea · 13/04/2026 05:42

I like Geox Spherica. Very comfortable and look nice too.

redboxerclub · 13/04/2026 05:44

I have tevas Birkenstocks and fatfsce leather sandals

tevas win hands down for comfort. I can walk miles in them. I have the originals but they now do a slim which is less sporty and a scrappy version whch. Birkinstock have lasted as well as I hoped. The fat face are nice for an even g out and I wear them at work on hot days.

They have all lasted many years of heavy wear
what ever you buy you need to wear in. But they will last you!

I LOVE tevas!

Hotter Tourist sandals often come up in answer to this question.

aintnothinbutagstring · 13/04/2026 06:47

I find Saltwater sandals more comfortable than Tevas and look nicer with dresses etc. Tevas perhaps more supportive underfoot as Saltwaters very flat but once I've worn Saltwaters in a little (easier if you get the leather wet while wearing), its like you're barefoot. My first Saltwaters had literally been all over the world before I upgraded to a different colour.

Holymolyrigmorole · 13/04/2026 06:53

I had these last year and liked them so much as a holiday sandal that I’ve bought another pair for this summer.

They are very comfortable and practical for daytime and also looked nice with long skirts and cropped trousers in the evening

Another vote for saltwaters but if you find the very flat ones too flat for you, the Boardwalk / Swimmer styles with the thicker soles are a lot more comfy in my view.

parkezvous · 13/04/2026 07:16

Birkenstock . Have tried all others but always come back to these as PP said they last forever

LovelyDonkey · 13/04/2026 07:56

I have arthritis and dodgy joints and have just bought a pair of Bob by Skechers. They look like a platform sole but that hides the memory foam soon they're actually really comfy. I have a pair from moshulu too which are also really springy and comfy, their selection is writer good this year.

I was a die hard salties fan but the lack of cushioning means no more sadly, I might try the swimmers but the standard ones are way too flat and hard

GameOfJones · 13/04/2026 08:02

I have really awkward feet.....wide so sandals often rub, high arches and plantar fasciitis. I bought a pair of Skechers arch fit tourist sandals as I'll be doing a lot of walking on holiday and they are like walking on marshmallows they're so comfortable. A lot of the really flat sandals look lovely but would wreck my feet.

I think whatever you get make sure it's adjustable across the foot and the ankle for maximum comfort and to stop the rubbing.

deeahgwitch · 13/04/2026 08:06

Skechers do lovely sandals.
So comfortable.
I like their wedge with diamanté ones for evenings on holidays.

Goblinkingsqueen · 13/04/2026 10:31

Another vote for Saltwaters. I have very sensitive feet and they have never rubbed. They are leather, come in a variety of colours and 2 different sole thicknesses. They are brilliant.

Jasmin71 · 13/04/2026 11:10

Moshulu Bavaria

Laiste · 13/04/2026 11:13

Anything from Fitflop. Seriously.

Even their 'basic' rubber flip flops are like walking in air and their leather sandals are even better. Makes everything else feel like rocks on your feet.

Laiste · 13/04/2026 11:15

Oh i do second Berkenstocks too.

The only thing with them is you do have to get used to the 'bed down' period of wearing them for a few hours. After that it really is like walking on supportive wet sand.

Corknut · 13/04/2026 11:15

Another vote for saltwater. I actually wore them to Glastonbury on a dry year! 30000 steps a day or something and they were fine.

Bjorkdidit · 13/04/2026 11:43

Teva TirraTraveler Hiking Sandal. Look a bit nicer than many comfortable sandals, but still very comfortable and mine didn't rub, despite most other shoes doing so.

hahabahbag · 13/04/2026 11:45

Mine are Timberland, pretty comfy, previous ones were Clarks

MrsWhites · 13/04/2026 12:11

I got a pair from timberland a few years ago and they barely left my feet. I’ve just bought another pair. I got both of mine from a timberland store at an outlet village - they have great deals if you can get to one of them.

3luckystars · 13/04/2026 13:31

I bought a pair of Tevas and they were like rocks. I would have had more comfort barefoot. I think maybe I got a dodgy pair as everyone raves about them but the soles were like walking on briquettes.

Anyway I have given up on sandals entirely now I wear runners and so be it. I have never found a pair that suits me or feel good to walk
in. I will still read this post though and hope they exist.
