Has anyone else’s previously brunette hair to ended up blonde as opposed to grey?

I used to have mid to dark hair brown. Stopped dying it around 6/7 years ago and it is now blonde. I’m in my fifties. Is that weird? There’s obviously grey mixed in there but the colour is a combination of platinum blonde and a warm yellow blonde with medium brown highlights. People comment on it positively and ask if it’s my actual hair. Has anyone else’s hair gone this colour and if so what happens in the end? I’m assuming pure white as opposed to steel grey?

It is very common for women in their 50s to dye their hair "Ash blonde", which is basically yellow dye over grey, and similar to the colour you describe - which is probably why you are getting queries!
I thought it was usually dark hair that went fully white and lighter hair that ended up just fading until it stayed at grey though?

Hair product build up can make white hair look yellow/blonde that's why people use purple shampoo to restore a silver colour.

I hadn’t thought of that! I do use mousse.

Id quite like it not to go steel grey if I’m honest. White feels a bit more fun as a colour.

@EvangelicalAboutButteredToast I was light to mid brown naturally. I pay a fortune to achieve blonde, brown, caramel, silver.

I used to do similar. It’s now growing out my head a similar colour to the colour I dyed it all those years ago. All I’d need to do is add more brown back into it but I can’t be bothered. Too lazy.
