What the flip to wear while in awkward in-between stage of pregnancy

Hi all,

I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant with my first and don’t quite have a bump yet. It looks more like I’ve had a very large dinner. My tummy is shaped like a ‘B’.

I’m size 10/12 usually but more of an 14 now and 5’6. My hips seem wider than usual and everything in my wardrobe looks frumpy/ill fitting or too tight.

My usual ‘uniform’ would be a striped or coloured shirt or a turtle neck, with Uniqlo barrel jeans or smart trousers, worn with trainers or Dr. Marten loafers. I’m not big into dresses but open to anything flattering at this rate as I want to put a match to my wardrobe.

I’m 30 if that makes any difference! And work in a creative industry, so a bit of fashion flair is not only welcome but encouraged.

I’d prefer not to spend a fortune on things I may not be able to fit into soon. Have any of you stylish ladies seen anything nice in the shops that would be comfy and look decent?

Thanks in advance.

I think you need some maternity trousers (which remain great after the baby is born). Try Beyond Nine or Isabella Oliver. M&S also have lots of drawstring trousers which are not too expensive.

Pull on trousers and an oversize shirt, the shops are packed with them.

I wore stretchy hiking trousers, not helpful, sorry! There's a really annoying 8 weeks or so when you're too fat for normal trousers but your bump isn't big enough to hold up maternity trousers. Knitted dresses worked quite well

I used "bump bands" , if they're still a thing.
And a hairband through my jeans buttonhole and buttonhole.

Bump band pulled over the top of my jeans, they sort of extended my normal tops, a layered look.
