What to wear on my massive feet?!

OrangeKettle · 10/04/2026 09:32

Please help me!

I’ve lost weight (I was obese this time last year).

Last year I was dressing older than my years. I looked frumpy. Lived in dresses and white trainers. The horror 😂

This year, I want to dress more nicely. I have some wide leg jeans which I love.

But what do I wear with dresses?!

Im 6’ tall, so prefer no heels. White trainers are apparently out. I have big feet (size 9) and also ugly feet. So hesitant to wear flat sandals that would make my feet look bigger and expose them!

I can’t win, can I?!

Hi I found Next small fitting even their 42/43s. Great replies good to know where to look

EgregiouslyOverdressed · 13/04/2026 12:12

I'm 6' with size 43 feet. Our feet aren't massive. They're in proportion and we'd literally fall over if they were any smaller.

Seconding the recommendations for Otto and Ivy upthread - there is some witchcraft in their design which makes feet look really neat and proportionate. I also find that Lanx and Fitflop both do a true size 9 / EU 43, unlike the many many shops who sell their size 42s as size 9s!

AnotherEmma · 13/04/2026 15:27

Yes Vionic sizing is a bit weird, as they say 42 is size 9, but they do go up to 43 (which they call size 10).

I'm a 42 which is size 8 in Birkenstocks and size 9 in vionics 🙄

TheOliveFinch · 13/04/2026 18:17

I’ve got size 8 feet and am only 5 ft 6 I choose trainers in dark colours with a low profile sole plenty to choose from and mainly Birkies in the summer. I would suspect at 6 ft your feet are very much in proportion

Have you tried Canal Boats.
Sorry this was an old joke

But you did say your feet were massive.
Size 9 is nothing these days

BeenChangedForGood · 15/04/2026 07:39

@OrangeKettle I work in the footwear industry and I can assure you that a size 9 is not unusual ☺️ and I can also assure you that what you see when you look down at your feet is completely different to what people see when they look at you ☺️ people always think their feet look “massive” and they really don’t.

Trying to find a size 9 that is a proper 43 is the issue. Especially on the high street. Shops that only sell whole sizes tend to stock sizes as 6/39 7/40 8/41 9/42 when in actual fact it should be 6/39 6.5/40 7/41 8/42 9/43.

Try Gabor, Ecco, Joseph Seibel, Paul Green, Remonte & Rieker for a size 9/43 ☺️

Havent read all the replies so not sure if it’s been mentioned but there is also an online brand called Otto & Ivy who specialise in larger sizes for ladies. They only start at an 8/42. I haven’t tried them so can’t comment on the quality but they do lots of dressier options as well as casual so could be worth keeping in mind for occasions etc ☺️

Not according to most high street shops and especially the manufacturers of women's trainers.

Skechers do a few in 9 s. Sooo comfy!

Someonenewagain · 16/04/2026 19:18

I’m 5’9 with size 8 feet. I literally just wear normal shoes. I like loafers for comfort (Fairfax & Favor mainly) trainers I usually wear Nike. I have a huge collection of boots (again many F&F) I’m Almost 50 so I’ve had big feet all my life - I have tiny ankles and very slim calves so I look a bit like a golf club, but at nearly 50 I don’t care these days.
wear what you like, I promise you, no one is looking at your feet - (unless they’re paying for it, but that’s a whole different thread)

TheNavyRaven · 17/04/2026 10:13

Hi! I'm the same. I wear pink or pastel colored air force ones, patterned vans and nice coloured birkenstocks, particularly like silver and gold. Have you tried a birkenstock mule?

ThisSharpShaker · 17/04/2026 20:58

I love my Ecco flat sandals. I don't know what they look like on bigger than size 7, but I wouldn't be embarrassed to have your toes on show. Why not take a pair of pop socks and have a try of sandals in a shop, they usually have a mirror. Hope you find something suitable.

Cinderella Shoes
After 8
Magnus of Northampton

The above all do lovely footwear for women who leave a larger footprint. I’m a UK size 10 and always have lovely shoes and trainers.

heaveho · 18/04/2026 20:56

I’m a 43/9, it’s not easy!
I wear chunky dr martens
sandals in the summer & dr martens boots in the winter (both size 8 btw).

I’m enjoying wearing Adidas Spezials atm too in a 9.5 - so comfy from day 1.
Next Directory is my ‘go to’ for size 9 shoes for other occasions, sometimes I can size down a little.

I used to worry about how large my feet looked but not so much now I’m getting on a bit!

Have you consider gel nails for your toes? My friend has these and it looks fabulous 💅

FairyBatman · 18/04/2026 21:39

I am a size 9 and really pissed off about it after a day of hunting for gym trainers.

For everyday I’ve just bought these in the light grey and they look great with wide legged jeans and dresses.

Koulibiak · 18/04/2026 22:45

If you’re a 42, I would also recommend Boden, I’m a 41/42 and they go up to 42 and are very roomy. Plus they always have sales. I’ve got some s42 retro colourful trainers that I get lots of compliments for.

Koulibiak · 18/04/2026 22:47

Also remember that Audrey Hepburn had massive feet and is considered a style icon! You can’t change your foot size - just embrace it 🙂

Coming late to this thread. I have massive feet. I wear a 9.5 or a 10 (43 or 44). Life as tall teenager with big feet in the ‘70s was torture.
Now, at almost 70, I buy most of my shoes from Crispins and boots from Duo. Crispins has a great selection of shoes from manufacturers from Spain and Portugal. Toni Pons make nice espadrille type shoes and for the first time, I feel a little stylish.
I also live in Birkenstocks in the summer. I wear a 42 in Birks though.
I also swear by Onitsuka Tigers. Some styles are unisex but the cut suits my feet. They don’t look huge in them.
Hotter sandals are good too.

Jellybelly80 · 19/04/2026 17:31

@ClarafromHR i agree about Crispins though I forgot to add them to my post upthread.

thank you for the mention of Duo. I didn’t know they went up to a UK size 10 and a quick look at the website has me very happy.

I have size 9 feet but I am only 5.5” no idea why I have got huge feet - but fitflop shoes are my go to - I have the boots and sandals - got another pair of platform denim sandals for summer - they are soo comfortable!
