What to wear on my massive feet?!

OrangeKettle · 10/04/2026 09:32

Please help me!

I’ve lost weight (I was obese this time last year).

Last year I was dressing older than my years. I looked frumpy. Lived in dresses and white trainers. The horror 😂

This year, I want to dress more nicely. I have some wide leg jeans which I love.

But what do I wear with dresses?!

Im 6’ tall, so prefer no heels. White trainers are apparently out. I have big feet (size 9) and also ugly feet. So hesitant to wear flat sandals that would make my feet look bigger and expose them!

I can’t win, can I?!

Is it for the summer? I’ve just bought these https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc147507666

Off topic but these could create an interesting sun tan pattern 😂🤭

Shein have a lot of bigger sizes. I know it's less than ideal, but with my size 9-10 feet it's a more realistic option than just living in men's shoes (which I have to do most of the time) The shoes for my wedding 25 years ago had to be specially ordered and cost a bloody fortune for plain white court shoes.

CountryShepherd · 10/04/2026 19:04

I'm size 9, and having lost weight in the last year, at least they are a slightly more elegant size 9 this year! I'm very touchy about what I wear - never wear mens shoes or uggs! I'm not as tall as the OP, and I've always been embarrassed having such big feet - it doesn't seem very feminine. However, things are definitely better than when I was a child - way too many clarks old lady sandals!

These days, I tend to live in Fitflops most of the time. I really like these at the moment. Women's Gen-Ff Buckle Leather Slides | Fitflop UK

Moshulu have quite a range though not everything goes up to a 9 - I've got these too SEVILLE CLASSIC 2 MARINE TEAL LEATHER | Blue toe-loop comfort sandals | Moshulu – moshulu

I don't wear heels at all but I don't think either of these make my feet look any bigger than they actually are. I do like to have a regular pedicure and polish for when my toes are on show!

I’m a size 8/9 , wide fit, and 5 ft 7. I really don’t think size 9 is massive on a 6 ft person. I get why you might be self conscious though. I’ve had some very humiliating experiences in shoe shops, including an assistant who insisted I was a size 7. Online shoe shopping is ghastly because sizes are not standardised, but at least no one laughs in your face.
I have some clogs with backstrap from Celtic and Co which look good with most things. They go up to a 9 and it is a true 9. I should have bought the 8! I love the look of samba type trainers, but they do seem to come up narrow, that may not be a problem for you. Best sandals for me are open toed with a tbar shape. I always paint my toes. Weirdly, no one ever seems to realise I have giant feet. I never wear heels, they are the work of the devil, although I have bought some slingbacks ( Naturalizer) for a summer wedding with a tiny block heel, that I can walk in. I like the look of Sargasso and Grey, but can’t afford them. Next have lots of 43s, and I often get great bargains in the Clearance section.. I’m going to check out the other recommendations .

I am 6ft with size 8 feet and mangled toes so cannot wear open toe shoes

am wearing trainers and ballet-sneakers called Speedcat

they do them in a size 9 too

DH said they looked “cute” 😅😁 they are comfy too

Snowinsummer · 10/04/2026 20:01

I’m only 5’9 & have size 9 feet. I often wear Josef Seibel shoes (size 43, occasionally I can get away with a 42 depending on how square the toe box is). I have narrow feet too which creates its own set of problems!!

Students2 · 10/04/2026 20:20

I find these shoes really comfy - they are marketed as 'women's' and 'men's' styles but actually they are all unisex as seller puts both women's and men's sizes on the same shoes! So I buy the men's options they come in size 9.
these are the women's size 9s

Hi have a look at these. Asda some in 9s. Cinderella Shoes. Linzi shoes have some wide fits but might be 8s. I agree not easy to find Im a 9 also.

TerracottaWorrier · 10/04/2026 20:48

I have massive feet and I like to buy summer shoes/sandals in Zara Man.

Their handbags are really good, too.

Same. Size nine is huge for our height. I never fall over, though, even in icy conditions or doing tricky balances in yoga.

anon2022anon · 10/04/2026 20:53

I've just bought these trainers for summer (check the EU sizes as they differ from most others). I think they'll go with loads, and they're a very neat looking trainer

My DH calls me mountain goat. This is meant ironically however!! 🤣

TurnipsAndParsnips · 10/04/2026 20:58

I was going to come on here to recommend Fitflops. I may have all of the sandals mentioned on here. They are comfy and contain your feet, thus making them look tidier and smaller.

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/04/2026 21:13

Have a look at Vivaia square-toed Margot Mary Janes:

https://www.vivaia.com/category/margot-mary-jane-c_929.html

I know you said no to Mary Janes but the square toe plus where the strap cuts across the foot makes these ones very flattering for larger feet (I have long narrow feet so they can easily look like boats). Don’t go anywhere near the almond or pointed toes though as then the magical foot shortening proportions vanish. Keep an eye on Vinted as the square toed Margots come up on a regular basis and you can usually get them for £30-35ish.

JurgenKloppsTeeth · 10/04/2026 21:19

I’m a 9-9.5 (EU43, not EU42 which some shops seem to think is a 9) but I have narrow feet. I lived in my Tevas and Hotter Tourist II sandals last summer - Hotter do a proper size 9 and they’re not all ugly orthopaedic wide fit velcro jobs. I also like Josef Seibel for winter boots.

Chie Mihara makes lovely shoes which can flatter all shapes of feet. They are pricey so look out for sales and on Vinted and EBay

StarryStaryNight · 10/04/2026 21:35

I just bought a dress and trainers for an afternoon church event. It will be too chilly for sandals, and 90% of attendees will be retired seniors in comfortable footwear anyways.

Twinkled · 10/04/2026 22:34

Vionic ( check the Web site) do wide larger footwear which is well made. Super shoes, sandals and boots. Make sure it's wide size 'e' and you may have to go down a size also. They are also great at returns. I try on a few pairs to find footwear that I like and that is comfortable. https://www.vionicshoes.co.uk/?gadsource=1&gadcampaignid=7273532840&gbraid=0AAAAADLHj2V0oOg1wwmyN05ptGKw-rpld&gclid=Cj0KCQjwv-LOBhCdARIsAM5hdKdL3PxItj2dykIeqzgEvC7AiM4VdrL1NB246WstV-tBYTO1cwUqRDUaAuHREALwwcB

Gettingbysomehow · 10/04/2026 22:38

Spend a weekend in Brighton. They have lots of shops with womens shoes that cater for men. Some of them are really gorgeous.
My mum is over 6 foot with size 9s and a small heel is much more flattering than a flat shoe. Embrace your height. Dont try and shrink yourself. Im short and if I was tall Id wear high heels and love it.

BloatedMacBloatface · 10/04/2026 22:39

Congratulationd on your weight loss, hope you feel fabulous.
i am also 6 ft tall with size UK9 / EUR43 wide fit feet. I’m too heavy footed to wear heels or delicate shoes.
i like chunky loafers for work, Fitflop trainers for casual (I find bright colours suit me better, white trainers look too big and manly), and Hotter /Josef Siebel closed toe sandals in summer.
I do struggle though, particularly with stock in shops. Clarks and Camper used to be my go-to, but in the last few years have reduced their size 9 ranges considerably.

Fozzleyplum · 10/04/2026 22:41

Another vote for Vivaia. They seem to come up about a size bigger than other shoes, probably because they accommodate wide feet. I have several pairs of the Margot style.

Properjob · 10/04/2026 22:41

OP.Ifeel your pain, have a proper size 8.5 feet yes 42.5/43. With a bunion. Have had a nightmare with shoes since Clarks stopped doing 9s. All my best shoes for years have come from literally scouring TKMaxx and being lucky. Last year I could only buy what Gabor 9s had to offer but £££. BUT recently I've learned that Skechers are massive, their womens 8 fits me perfectly. Also and even better,so are M&S. I bought these squaretoed MJ's in an 8 recently and they are dIvine, so pretty and flattering I almost cried. This is new, and so great. Hope you find something you like OP.

Similar sized feet and love my fit flops for sandals as well as air and grace

CoastalCalm · 10/04/2026 22:54

Size 9 here and I live from now til Autumn in Birkenstocks or I do have a pair of men’s sling back Ugg’s which don’t look manly if you know what I mean.
