Miracle working Body Lotion!

JudiRuliani · 09/04/2026 10:35

The skin on my body is really dull and dry. Can anyone recommend a miracle-working body lotion/cream to slather on please.

Also a shower gel/cream that might help too.

For info - mid 50s, on HRT and also recently started swimming (which could be the cause, despite showering/moisturising after)

L’Occataine products are fab .

You need something with an exfoliant. Ameliorate body lotion is really good but there are lots of similar products on the market.

Tortephant · 09/04/2026 10:43

Ameroliate

JudiRuliani · 09/04/2026 11:41

Thanks all! Exfoliating hadn’t occurred to me 😩 yet I look after my face so well! Will try Ameliorate first and maybe move on to something a bit more luxurious (love L’Occitane hand creams).
Thanks again, I really appreciate it 😊

Nivea body products are very impressive

Oldgalgames · 09/04/2026 15:00

I use a dry brush pre shower then a gentle exfoliator followed by loctaine shower oil. Once out I slap on plenty of cocoa butter (just the tesco one) followed by elemis japanese body oil to seal in all the mositure. My skin is super silky soft

Been overthinking this and hope it didn’t sound rude about Ameliorite - this sounds more ‘medicinal’ and will sort the problem, rather then being a luxury, spa-like fragrance 😊

Thanks @pollyanna and @Oldgalgamesfor your suggestions too!

For a body lotion look for one with ceramides, shea butter, and squalane. That combination restores lipids, locks moisture in, and works well with the hormonal skin changes that come with HRT. For shower gel, a cream-based or oil-infused wash over anything foaming. And sulfate-free.

Naturium and Byoma both do exfoliating body washes which very good using AHAs

Peachesandcream444 · 10/04/2026 00:47

Naturiam salicylic body wash is lovely. I have similar skin and have started using an African net in the shower and wow what a difference. I use that body wash then when dry either Nivea in the blue pump bottle or La Roche Possay as body lotion. My skin has transformed in a week of doing that daily, it’s gone from almost powdery white shins due to dryness and bumpy, rough arms to really smooth skin. I need to stay disciplined and keep it up.

TurnipsAndParsnips · 10/04/2026 07:11

Both of these products are excellent and were recommended by my dermatologist.

MakeMineAMilkyTea · 10/04/2026 07:33

Clinique deep comfort is amazing. Absorbs so nicely and quickly! I also like Sol de Janerio. Their body butter (purple one) is lovely and rich and absorbs well.

GameOfJones · 10/04/2026 07:37

I have heard great things about that Mixa urea lotion a PP mentioned above.

Exfoliating is really key I find. My skin is in a good state now but I still do a weekly proper exfoliation with a salt or sugar scrub and daily use one of those shower nets to wash my body as that's slightly exfoliating too.

3luckystars · 10/04/2026 07:39

Naturium glycolic acid wash and ameliorate cream. Amazing!

WonderingWanda · 10/04/2026 07:49

Boots do a Sanctuary body scrub which is lovely it's oily and salty but it leaves my skin feeling like a baby and smells amazing too.

Sparkletastic · 10/04/2026 09:02

Another vote for Naturium (available at Space NK and Boots). The Glow Getter range has transformed my 50-something year old skin. I’m evangelical about it.

It’s honestly fantastic. After using it twice I bought another 2 while it was at a low price on Amazon! Doesn’t sting irritated skin, not greasy, and has shifted all the bumps on my upper arms

I feel basic now but I really rate the garnier
seven day one for normal skin. I find consistency is better than ad hoc also. Well
rhats what I tell myself! Hate hate hate putting lotion on 😂
