Either? Or neither?

Help me decide which shoe?

Neither. Maybe in a lighter or brighter colour?

GodSavetheJean · 07/04/2026 13:33

These look like Grandpas old slippers. Sorry, these are not it.

mathanxiety · 07/04/2026 13:51

I think the darker ones (with the twist/ knot) have a more slimline look, which I think is a plus.

However, the lighter ones are a more classic style that will look less faddy over time, so that's a plus too.

So much depends on how they look on you.

Sorry not much help.

1000StrawberryLollies · 07/04/2026 13:53

Neither. Definitely grandpa's slippers vibe.

CelestialGazer · 07/04/2026 14:06

Another one for a grandpa’s slippers vibe. They look like the sort of thing that gets advertised in the weekend supplements, along with stairlifts and walk in baths.

nonmerci99 · 07/04/2026 14:08

Def the one on the right!

DramaAlpaca · 07/04/2026 14:52

I like the ones on the right, I have a similar pair.

evilharpy · 07/04/2026 15:18

I like the ones on the right. Are they YSL? I have similar from M&S although mine are darker brown.

Not a fan of the knotty ones.

Crikeyalmightey · 07/04/2026 15:50

They make even small neat feet look like boats. Because they come so far up the foot. You can get loafers that only come halfway, a bit further up than say ballet flats. Look much nicer.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/04/2026 15:57

Neither really. If pushed I like the taupe colour (is it?) lighter.

DepressedBunny · 07/04/2026 16:35

Do you think you could try leather instead of suede? These both give a strange deflated and faded vibe. The first time a picture of shoes has made me feel oddly depressed! 😳

I know that picture is awful. I don't like the way they look in leather, though, the gathers and suede together are sort of soft looking.

@Crikeyalmightey I don't mind them making my feet look a bit bigger - they're quite small and absolutely don't look like boats.

I'm struggling to find shoes this spring that I can wear to work things. I'm not loving anything that's out there.

I am a size four. I tend to wear Mary Janes, ballet flats or brogues to work. What do you normally wear?

Trainers, Chloe clogs, boots, sandals in the summer. I have lots of nice shoes for being properly dressed up, but I need something for some work stuff where I need to be a bit more dressed than trainers and less dressed than heel-type shoes, bonus if I want to wear them for more than that.

I don't like Mary Janes or brogues or ballet flats (or loafers, actually). I don't like shoes that are totally flat. I've looked at some chunky soled loafers, which are a bit more my style, but feel a bit outdated at the moment.

I also tried these, but they seem a bit more formal

They are nice and elegant. But a different look I guess. More like formal office wear.

Tontostitis · 07/04/2026 17:33

If the fashion magazines told her to she'd wear cats on her feet

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 07/04/2026 17:35

They look like shar pei dogs. Is that what you’re going for?

BillieWiper · 07/04/2026 17:35

I don't like either I'm afraid. The first one with the knotty thing and the second looks like a cross between a moccasin and a loafer. They both look kind of bashed out of shape too. No objection to the colours or fabric if it was on a totally different shoe though!

You're very welcome to say you don't like them, but I'm groping for the reason you need to go out of your way to be so unnecessarily rude. Bad day?

Edited to be less rude in return.

Of the two , I'd go for the non bum holey ones .

divingworldchampion · 07/04/2026 18:20

Well I like them!! I prefer the one without the plait detail.

Overtheatlantic · 07/04/2026 18:21

The brown/tan penny loafers are a classic. The other ones are very odd looking.

Barnsleybonuz · 07/04/2026 18:24

I have the penny loafer ones, infact I wore them today for work with ankle length wide jeans and they looked really nice.

Jamesblonde2 · 07/04/2026 18:25

They look like bloke’s slippers.
