Help me with a work wardrobe please

Hello, after years of working as a nursery assistant where the uniform was jeans and a polo top I am now changing jobs.

This means a whole new wardrobe and I am really stuck on what would be good/comfortable/cheap but look nice to wear!

I will be working as a Teaching Assistant in the reception class so will be bending a lot. The school is in a large plot of land so extremely windy at times when outside. I will be helping children in all lessons including craft (hence not wanting expensive clothing!)

Please help me with some ideas

Thank you

I'd get some wide leg trousers in navy or black (m&s, matalan, etc). Then pair with a variety of coloured long sleeve tops/blouses. A couple of darker toned cardis for colder days.

Next seem to be selling some good basics in several colours together, they seem good value, wash well etc

I’d always go for a higher neckline on tops!

I’ve got some lovely work trousers from next like parallel leg ones I have them in navy, black, pinstripe and just alternate tops round with them. Check stuff isn’t dry clean only that could be a pain - I buy in the next sale or clearance tab on the website or vinted is great too.

It doesn’t sound as if your working day will be significantly different - the children will just be a year or two older?

Have you had a good look at Uniqlo? They should be able to supply you with everything you’ll need - and their clothes are generally hard wearing. Maybe change the jeans for chinos and the polo tops for shirts over the spring / summer. And pick outerwear as necessary.
