Hairdryer broke this morning which was not helpful! Expected as it was about 18 years old!! Can anyone recommend a good hairdryer which is not ££££. I have GHDs though they are as old as my hairdryer but still good! Touch wood’

Parlux every time

Mightneedencouraged · 31/03/2026 10:51

I like Dyson a lot

ThatLimeBiscuit · 31/03/2026 10:53

Watching as mine is also on the way out but it’s nowhere near 18 years old!! I’m thinking about a GHD one. My friends have the Dyson and Shark ones and say they aren’t worth it.

Tortephant · 31/03/2026 11:07

Parlux - wouldn't buy anything else now.

EverythingIsComputer · 31/03/2026 11:13

Another vote for Parlux, my first lasted for over 10 years of daily use and I expect its replacement to do the same

donotmissyourchancetoblow · 31/03/2026 13:35

I love my Dyson and got it while on offer so managed to get at a brilliant price.
my second would be Parlux. I got one after asking my hairdresser for a recommendation and I really liked it I lasted for years and I still have it as my “spare, just incase” dryer

Duvetdayneeded · 01/04/2026 07:04

It’s interesting how hairdryers are either £20-40 or £250 plus!!! Mine cost £18!

is the ionic feature any good at reducing frizz in reality?

Another vote for Parlux.

LucieChardon · 01/04/2026 07:30

Parlux.

My gym has GHD hairdryers, noticeably not as good as my Parlux at home.

GloiredeDijon · 01/04/2026 07:34

I recently bought a Remington and love it. It is the Remington Almond Allure currently on the Boots website for £49.
It does the job really well.

Imicola · 01/04/2026 07:35

Parlux for me too!

DisplayPurposesOnly · 01/04/2026 07:36

Parlux for me too.

I was in the £20 hairdryer market before but they never lasted. Bought a Parlux, it's now c12 years old. Dries my hair faster and smoother. And it's less shrill.

Lunaballoon · 01/04/2026 07:53

Parlux always comes highly rated on these threads but I’ve been disappointed by mine. I specifically wanted a lightweight one but “lite” version I bought is pretty heavy and the controls are designed in the middle of the handle, just where my hand wraps round.

Parlux are quite heavy in comparison to other hairdriers that I have had. Worth it for me, but my mum hates it as it's too heavy for her.

In true mumsnet fashion, I’m going to ignore everyone (!) and go for a Babybliss which I can get for £90 as on sale from £150 and is highly rated by different sources online. But thanks anyway!

Definitely regretting my Parlux purchase after seeing the Babyliss 😩

ThatLimeBiscuit · 01/04/2026 15:00

I have the Babyliss 3q it’s great

freeandfierce · 01/04/2026 22:35

I recommend Babyliss, I'm a hairdresser and mines still going after nearly 20 years!

Duvetdayneeded · 05/04/2026 21:15

Omg!!! It’s great! Like a mini jet engine!! It dries so differently that it’s unreal!!! Recommend it!!
