I live in London I know anything goes, but…I have to dress smartly but conservatively for work (think pinstripe trousers nice top or smart jeans and blazer) at home I live in gym gear or jeans. I want to wear something different that isn’t my work palette iykwim but not sure what. I never wear dresses anymore.

I’m 50, size 10-12, 5’9, best features are arms and flat stomach. Mid brown hair, suit khakis, grey, beiges.

if I can put an outfit together from what I’ve got great but equally happy to invest in something with longevity.

Any ideas? Thank you.

No doubt you already shop everywhere, as you live in London? If you already have a good wardrobe it might be satisfying to ‘switch up’ one detail to mark a difference to your everyday wardrobe.

From, say, Net-a-Porter editorials like this:

https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-gb/porter/article-e9e1fd4ba9a6d628/fashion/fashion-memo/ss26-fashion-trends

you might feel prompted to add an exaggerated shape or a new texture / fabric.

The Frankie Shop

is good on new proportions and layering, and very much your colour palette generally.

And places like:

https://int.toteme.com/collections/ready-to-wear

https://roheframes.com/en-uk

are good at suggesting ways to wear familiar shapes in lighter colours.

Between those ‘options for change’ you can probably discover a way to turn what you enjoy wearing into a suitably celebratory outfit.
